About this project
What does AE2 Enchantment Search add?
AE2 Enchantment Search
Find enchanted books in Applied Energistics 2 by the enchantment they actually contain, not only by the generic "Enchanted Book" item name.
AE2 normally searches an item's display name. Enchantment names are tooltip lines, so typing an enchantment such as Sharpness or its translated name does not match an enchanted book unless tooltip-search syntax is used. AE2 Enchantment Search extends the normal terminal name search to inspect the enchantments stored on each book.
Features
- Search enchanted books by translated enchantment name in the normal AE2 search box.
- Supports vanilla, datapack, and modded enchantments.
- Uses JustEnoughCharacters when installed for full pinyin and abbreviated pinyin.
- Works with AE2 query combinations such as
@apothic fengli. - Does not modify ItemStacks, Data Components, AE keys, or server inventories.
- Registers no items, blocks, menus, recipes, or network packets.
- Client-side only; the server does not need this mod.
- Supports AE2 19.x with a fail-soft compatibility Mixin.
Search Examples
With a Chinese language pack and JustEnoughCharacters installed, a Sharpness book can be found using examples such as:
fenglifl@minecraft fengli
Use a space between AE2 query terms. @mod pinyin is an AND query; the literal text @mod+pinyin is not AE2 search syntax.
Compatibility Strategy
The mod builds against AE2 19.2.17 and accepts AE2 19.x. AE2 does not currently offer a public API for adding normal-search predicates, so this mod uses one small client Mixin. The injection is optional and does not shadow AE2 private fields. If a later AE2 19.x release changes the internal search class, the enhancement can be skipped instead of preventing Minecraft from starting.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge 21.1.244 or newer
- Applied Energistics 2 19.x
- JustEnoughCharacters is optional and provides pinyin matching
Install this mod on the client only.
