About this project

What does Elytra Potion add?

What is this?

Windrider adds the **Elytra Potion**: brew it, drink it, and you get real Elytra-style gliding physics for a few minutes — pitch-controlled descent, the same feel as flying with actual wings, firework rockets included — without ever equipping an Elytra. It's a genuine gameplay mechanic, not a reskinned Slow Falling or a Creative-mode free-fly toggle.

Available for **Fabric 1.21.1**. Requires **Fabric API**.

Features

  • **Real gliding, not a gimmick** — while the effect is active, jumping off a ledge and pressing jump again mid-air starts an actual Elytra-style glide: same pitch control, same firework boost compatibility, same landing behavior as the vanilla item — just triggered by a potion instead of a chestplate slot.
  • **Standard potion, standard brewing** — no new items to fuss with. It's a normal Potion you can drink, splash, or make into a lingering cloud, same as any vanilla potion.
  • **Plays fair with real Elytras** — if you're also wearing an actual Elytra, nothing changes; the potion just means you don't *need* one.
  • **5 minutes per drink** — long enough to matter, short enough that it's a resource, not a permanent wings replacement. Splash and Lingering versions follow vanilla's normal distance-from-impact falloff, same as every other splash potion.

How to brew

  1. Brew a **Water Bottle + Nether Wart** into an **Awkward Potion**, same as any other potion.
  2. Brew the **Awkward Potion + Feather** to get the **Elytra Potion**.
  3. Optionally add **Gunpowder** for a Splash Potion, or **Dragon's Breath** for a Lingering Potion, same as vanilla.

How to use

  1. Drink (or get hit by a splash/lingering cloud of) the Elytra Potion.
  2. Jump off something tall.
  3. While falling, press jump again — you'll glide, same motion as opening an Elytra.
  4. Gliding stops automatically when you land or when the effect runs out mid-air.
