Divine Comedy: Dante's Inferno

Experience Dante like Never Before!

This is my way of saying that this mod is still a work in progress and has been very rushed, and I am also new to mod creation. I will be updating this frequently, especially before the modjam. I just wanted to get it out so I can recieve any feedback or ideas y'all have, as well as any issues y'all notice. It will improve!

Dante's Inferno (and The Divine Comedy as a whole) is one of the greatest works in literature. Inferno in particular has vivid imagery and so much content, and I thought it would be very fun to play in Minecraft. So, that is the goal of this mod. It adds a custom 9-layer dimension, many biomes, mobs, blocks, at least 3 planned bosses, and more!

What this mod adds:

Dimension

• Inferno
  • This is where practically all the content in this mod is found. Explore 9 unique layers each with custom biomes, mobs, and structures. To get to Inferno, you must either find the Virgilager (spawns in dakr oak forests) or die (death entrance can be disabled in the config).

Layer 1

• Limbo
  • This layer is grayscale, foggy, and bleak. It will be very hard to find materials. Your only hope may be to find one of the villages which the residents of this layer, the virtuous pagans, have built.

Layer 2

• Whirling Wastelands
  • A vast, empty wasteland.

Layer 3

• Gluttonous Caverns
  • The cold, muddy home of Cerebus. Watch out for the crawlers who he has mauled, and until you are ready to fight, stay away from Cerebus! As the saying goes, let sleeping three-headed dogs lie.

Layer 4

• Arid Plains
  • This dry, sandy layer is scattered with the avaricious rock rollers. They pack a powerful punch- might be a good idea to see if they'll fight each other. Also watch out for the dangerous but rewarding gold hoards!

Layer 5

• Styx River
  • Thought the gluttonous caverns were muddy? Think again! The styx river is muddy and filled with cloudy styx fluid.

Layer 6

• Depths of Dis
  • The first layer found under the City of Dis, the layer closely resembles it and contains the heretics.

Layer 7

• Wood of Suicides
  • This layer is filled with trees containing the souls of suicides. Rivers of boiling blood run through the woods.

Layer 8

• Malebolge
  • A large, stony expanse.
  • More features coming in future updates!

Layer 9

• Frozen Depths
  • Cold and frosty, this layer is an endless, desolate expanse.
  • More features coming in future updates!

If you can't figure out how to get to the next layer...

• The villages don't only have supplies. See if you can find a secret to descend to the next layer.
• Find an old tower to descend to the next layer.
• Find Cerebus' Lair and slay him to descend to the next layer (no pun intended).
• The gold hoard contains the way to descend to the next layer - but be careful!
• Find the imposing City of Dis and navigate its maze to descend to the next layer.
• Find a heretic cemetery to descend to the next layer.
• Find a sinkhole to descend to the next layer ( it will be different in future updates >:) )
• Find a statue's head peeking above the ground. It is your way to descend to the next layer.
• Look for a ring of ice peaks, in the future this will be a boss fight.
