What does Traffic Engine add?

GitHub: TrafficEngine

NeoForge Forge Fabric

Traffic Engine adds roads, programmable traffic lights, custom signs, displays and city-building blocks to Minecraft.

Build anything from a small street to a complete city, then bring it to life with working intersections, pedestrian crossings and your own road signs.

Inspired by TrafficCraft, Traffic Engine expands its ideas with more customization, easier controller and new modern menus.

✨ Features

🛣️ Roads & Markings

  • 6 Asphalt Types & Slopes: Choose Default, Damaged, Heavy Damaged, Light, Dark or Dirty asphalt. Each type includes matching slopes and varied textures.
  • Road Markings: Use the Paint Brush to add lanes, arrows, letters, numbers, bicycle symbols, motorcycle symbols and pedestrian markings.
  • Pattern Search & Favorites: Browse markings by category, search for a pattern and save your favorites for quick access.
  • Quick Copy: Shift + right-click an existing road marking with the Paint Brush to copy its pattern and color.
  • Curbs & Speed Bumps: Build roads with asphalt and concrete curb blocks, matching slopes and Flat or Wide Speed Bumps.

🚦 Traffic Management

  • Easy-to-Program Controller: Enter vehicle-light IDs and green-light durations. Automatic timing calculates the red-light durations and coordinates linked crossing lights.
  • Manual Timing: Configure green and red durations yourself when you need more control.
  • Customizable Traffic Lights: Use vertical, horizontal or diagonal lights with adjustable lamp counts, arrow symbols, operating modes and optional countdown displays.
  • Transition Lights: Choose yellow or red + yellow before green and set how long the transition lasts.
  • End Warning: Optionally make the green light blink before it ends.
  • Pedestrian & Bicycle Crossings: Link crossing lights to one or multiple vehicle-light IDs. Crossing lights turn red shortly before their linked vehicle lights turn green.

🅿️ Traffic Signs

  • Flexible Placement: Place signs on poles or walls, with angled, horizontal and diagonal options.
  • Double-Sided Signs: Set different patterns on the front and back of a sign.
  • Pattern Catalogue: Choose sign shapes and designs without needing a separate block for every pattern.
  • Traffic Sign Workbench: Create your own pixel designs, choose their colors and save or edit them in a Pattern Catalogue.

🖥️ Displays & Information Systems

  • Traffic LED Panel: Create custom pixel patterns and colors. Newly placed panels start blank, ready for your design.
  • Traffic Information Displays: Show directions, warnings, road information or custom messages.

🚧 City Infrastructure

  • Paved Sidewalks & Slopes: Build sidewalks with matching slopes for changes in height.
  • Barriers & Guardrails: Add guardrails, bicycle lane dividers, turnstile barriers and other roadside structures.
  • Foldable Scissor Barriers: Right-click with the Wrench to fold or unfold a retractable scissor barrier.
  • Traffic Poles: Combine poles with signs and compatible traffic equipment to build detailed roadside setups.

🎨 Menus & Performance

  • Modern Menus: Clearer layouts, live previews and consistent controls make tools and traffic equipment easier to configure.
  • Performance Improvements: Optimized models and rendering reduce memory usage, while improved breaking effects prevent excessive particles from rotated lights and signs.

🔄 TrafficCraft Migration

Already have a world built with TrafficCraft?

Traffic Engine includes an automatic migration system.
