Passable Foliage Forked

Passable Foliage Forked is an unofficial, independently maintained fork of Snownee's Passable Foliage for Fabric/Quilt. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Snownee or the original project's maintainers. All credit for the original concept and implementation goes to Snownee and previous contributors.

Its purpose is to keep the Fabric/Quilt edition available for newer stable Minecraft versions with compatibility updates, maintenance, and bug fixes. This release supports Minecraft Java 26.3.

What it does

Allows players and entities to move through leaves and blocks in the passablefoliage:passables block tag. Features remain configurable: horizontal/vertical movement slowdown, reduced fall damage in leaves, movement and impact sounds, entity pathfinding, player-only passage, Leaf Walker enchantment, collision from below, and name-tag hiding inside foliage.

• Updated to Minecraft Java 26.3 and Java 25.
• Updated Fabric Loader, Fabric API, Fabric Loom, and Gradle.
• Removed the Kiwi dependency; replaced with native Fabric/vanilla implementations.
• Replaced YAML config with validated JSON; auto-migrates supported old options.
• Added strict config parsing, numeric validation, file-size limit, and atomic writes.
• Fixed inverted name-tag visibility and foliage slowdown with alwaysLeafWalking.
• Improved temporary collision-state handling; reduced excessive logging.
• Updated datagen, tags, and resource formats; verified Gradle Wrapper; cleaned development files.

Requirements

Minecraft Java 26.2 | 26.3

• Fabric Loader 0.19.1+
• Fabric API 0.155.0+
• Fabric or compatible Quilt Loader
• Required on both client and server in multiplayer.

Installation

1. Install Fabric Loader or compatible Quilt Loader for Minecraft 26.3.

2. Install Fabric API.

3. Place PassableFoliageForked.jar in the mods folder.

4. Remove the original Passable Foliage JAR. Do not install both: the fork keeps the original mod ID for world/config compatibility. Back up important worlds before replacing mods.

Configuration

File: config/passablefoliage.json. Known values from passablefoliage-common.yaml migrate automatically when possible; the old file is not deleted.
