Nev's Signals
British-inspired functional railway signals and level crossings for Create.
Quick answer
Which Nev's Signals release should I use?
Nev's Signals nevs_signals-1.2.1.jar targets 1.21.1 with NeoForge. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. All 2 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Nev's Signals required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does Nev's Signals nevs_signals-1.2.1.jar need?
nevs_signals-1.2.1.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install Steam 'n' Rails Neoforge, Create first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.
Before you install it

About this project
What does Nev's Signals add?
NEV'S SIGNALS
BRITISH-INSPIRED RAILWAY SIGNALLING FOR CREATE
SIGNALLING / SIGNS / JUNCTIONS / LEVEL CROSSINGS
A MORE BRITISH RAILWAY.
I made Nev's Signals mostly for myself.
I wanted simple, British-inspired railway signals that worked properly with Create, looked at home in Minecraft, and didn't require a mountain of redstone behind every signal.
Somehow, against all odds, it actually worked.
So I thought I'd upload it here and see if anyone else might find it useful too.
Nev's Signals provides a growing range of functional British-inspired railway signalling, signage and level-crossing equipment, designed to retain the Minecraft/Create aesthetic rather than becoming overly detailed or realistic.
01 / SIGNALLING
FAMILIAR EQUIPMENT. FUNCTIONAL OPERATION.
Nev's Signals is designed to work alongside Create, rather than replace its signalling system.
Create continues to handle the underlying railway logic and train movement. Nev's Signals provides the visible British-style signalling equipment and additional functionality.
SIGNAL EQUIPMENT
2-ASPECT / 3-ASPECT / 4-ASPECT
Post-mounted signals
Wall-mounted signals
Shunting signals
Banner repeater signals
Signal identification plates
Illuminated signal aspects
SIGNALLING FUNCTIONS
CREATE SIGNAL INTEGRATION
Signal-to-signal linking
Junction-linked signalling
Diverging route indications
Flashing signal aspects
Engineer's linking tool
Signals can be linked to Create signals and to each other, allowing complete multi-aspect signalling installations while Create continues to handle the railway itself.
Junction-aware signals can respond to the route set through a junction and provide the appropriate diverging indication, including flashing aspects where required.
BRITISH SIGNALLING. MINECRAFT ENGINEERING.
02 / SPEEDS + TRACKSIDE EQUIPMENT
THE RIGHT INDICATION, IN THE RIGHT PLACE.
Nev's Signals includes a growing selection of British-inspired signs and lineside equipment.
SPEED SIGNAGE
Standard speed restriction signs
Advanced-warning speed signs
Diverging speed-limit signs
Compact diverging speed-limit signs
Compact advanced-warning diverging speed-limit signs
CAR-STOP MARKERS
Configurable car-stop markers are available in:
POST / REAR WALL / SIDE WALL
Matching standalone posts are also provided.
Where practical, equipment is configurable rather than requiring a separate block for every possible variation.
Less creative-menu clutter. More railway.
03 / LEVEL CROSSINGS
AUTOMATIC OPERATION. MINIMAL REDSTONE.
Because apparently making the signals wasn't enough.
Nev's Signals also includes the equipment required to construct functional British-inspired level crossings.
CROSSING EQUIPMENT
Level-crossing controller
Post-mounted wig-wags
Wall-mounted wig-wags
Working crossing barriers
Multiple barrier variants
Linked crossing equipment
Automatic crossing sequences
Crossing equipment can be linked together to form a complete working installation while keeping the amount of external redstone required to a minimum.
AUDIBLE WARNING EQUIPMENT
The crossing alarm is constructed entirely from existing Minecraft sounds.
NO ADDITIONAL SOUND FILES REQUIRED.
We apologise for the noise.
04 / INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED SOFTWARE

05 / FAULTS + TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
SOMETHING GONE WRONG?
Signal displaying an aspect it shouldn't?
Barrier refusing to behave?
Has something occurred which cannot reasonably be explained by conventional railway engineering?
Technical assistance of varying quality is available on the Nev's Signals Discord:
Bug reports and suggestions are welcome.
Pictures of railways and other things you've built using the mod are particularly welcome.
I hope you're smarter than me, because there's a reasonable chance we'll have to figure out what's gone wrong together.
06 / DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
FURTHER EQUIPMENT IS PLANNED.
SEMAPHORE SIGNALLING
Currently under development, with models being refined before returning to the creative menu.
ADDITIONAL SIGNALLING EQUIPMENT
Further British signalling equipment and associated infrastructure.
LINESIDE EQUIPMENT
Additional signs, markers and railway furniture.
ROUTE FUNCTIONALITY
Further development of junction and signalling behaviour.
GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS
Continued refinement of existing equipment and functionality.
And, inevitably:
Whatever other railway-related thing distracts me while I'm supposed to be fixing bugs.
No completion dates are promised.
Nev's Signals remains a hobby project originally built because I wanted this equipment on my own railway.
Somehow we're here now.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
A big thank you to Josie_Wosie and Create: Realistic Railways for inspiring me to have a go at making my own railway signalling mod in the first place.
And, of course, thanks to the Create team for making the wonderful machinery-filled rabbit hole responsible for all of this in the first place.
