ExtraBiomes
Adds 26 new overworld biomes, from the charred forests and jellyfish fields to a floating Sky City, plus new mobs, blocks, and structures to fill them.
Quick answer
Which ExtraBiomes release should I use?
ExtraBiomes Java-v3.10.0-beta-5+mc1.20.4 targets 1.20.4 with NeoForge. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. 1 required mod needs a matching file.
Where it goes
Is ExtraBiomes required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does ExtraBiomes Java-v3.10.0-beta-5+mc1.20.4 need?
Java-v3.10.0-beta-5+mc1.20.4. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install TerraBlender (Forge), Architectury API, GeckoLib first, but 1 required mod has no matching file for this setup. Do not mix loader builds to force a match.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does ExtraBiomes add?
ExtraBiomes
ExtraBiomes is a world generation addon/mod for Minecraft, available for both Bedrock and Java Edition, that adds 26 new biomes to the overworld, along with the mobs, blocks, and structures to fill them, from burnt forests and jellyfish-filled oceans to a floating Sky City above the mountains. On Bedrock, all textures include PBR maps, so the addon works with RTX resource packs and the new shader system out of the box.

The Java port is currently in beta, supporting only version 1.20.1 at the moment, and requires architectury-api, TerraBlender and GeckoLib as dependencies. It can also be compiled from source by cloning this repo.
Overworld Surface Biomes
Ever wondered what would happen to a mesa biome over the winter? well, this is it, the frozen mesa, and it is just that, in most ways, it is very similar to the regular mesa, just in a cooler climate, and also the underground mesa generates here.
These frozen mountain biomes were once mesa plateau's but as glacial erosion wore them down they became stunning peaks.
Also like the frozen mesa plateau, this is a variant of the frozen mesa, but instead of being a big flat hill, this is essentially the regular frozen mesa, but with the Bryce pillars.
A desert biome with towering Bryce pillars
the jungle marsh is a swamp-like biome found inside jungles, Mushrooms, and swamp trees will spawn here, as well as tiny jungle trees in shallow areas, tree stumps below the water level and lots of piranhas spawn here, so watch out in the water!
This biome is a jungle with gigantic pillars of stone shooting up through the skyline
When a mesa becomes humid enough to support a jungle biome, a jungle can start to spread over the mesa to form a lush mesa, In this biome, there is a lower section where a jungle spawns, however at higher levels, it is still too dry for a jungle to spread.
the lush mesa Bryce is one of my favourite biome so far in Extrabiomes, it is very similar to the regular lush mesa, however, this has the Bryce pillars from mesa Bryce biomes, as well as lots of little lakes throughout the biome, which look really nice!
the floating jungle is a jungle biome that can be found at the tallest peaks of the world
the fungal jungle emerges when a jungle meets a Mushroom Island, with patches of mycelium spread across the ground letting hoppleshrooms and mushrooms live here, and the dense jungle around their clearings contains large numbers of new mushrooms
The futuristic desert is a very rare custom desert biome with white concrete being used as sand with little futuristic trees, This biome was the first biome added before I was even planning to make it into what ExtraBiomes is today.
The glacier is an extremely deep block of ice stretching from the top of the glacier which is the height of your average hill all the way down to bedrock, with the lower layers containing Ice Caves where Lapis has a higher chance of spawning.
The Grand Oasis is a desert variant, with streaks of red sand running through, lots of palm trees, hidden treasure, and the bones of giants.
The Jellyfish Fields is a reference to the jellyfish fields in the cartoon SpongeBob. The jellyfish mob spawns here, the floor is covered with moss and there are custom corral structures and sea pickles covering the floor.
the moorlands biome is a hilly lowlands biome, covered in long grass, and podzol, with lots of lakes dotted around the land, Lots of animals will spawn here as it is a perfect environment for a lot of wildlife.
The Mystic Forest is a fantasy-style swamp biome, with a mystic tree which spawns there which is a custom wood type with a purple hue, and the leaves glow, there is also a purple fog in the biome, and there is a glowing purple goo on the floor.
The vanilla Mushroom Island has been overhauled with a load of new mushroom types.
The shattered swamp is a variant of the swamp, with terrain generation similar to that of a It once had generation similar to that of the shattered savanna biome, however now has stone and tuff pillars towering through, there are patches of moss on the ground and bamboo throughout, and the new mushrooms.
The taiga spikes biome is a variation of the ice spikes biome that contains everything you would find in a snowy taiga biome, in my opinion, this is a massive upgrade to the vanilla ice spikes biome, giving it so much more life than the vanilla ice spikes.
This biomes is the Ice Spikes biome but with Tiaga trees, taller pillars and tuff and stone pillars.
The Netherlands is based on the real-life Netherlands on the surface, full of tulip fields, windmills and wheat fields, but underground is a mini nether in the overworld. on java edition, if the create mod is installed, the windmill will also have moving parts.
Like the Netherlands but with wheat fields instead of tulips.
The Charred Forest is a biome found in warm climates where it was so hot that all of the vegetation was burnt to a smouldering pile of basalt. Very little has survived here, and there are still remnants of fire and smoke throughout the biome
The tropical island biomes can be found in warm oceans. They are sandy islands covered with grass and vegetation like moss carpets and melons, as well as palm trees which are a custom tree type that can be found here and they are surrounded by coral.
Overworld Subterra Biomes
This is a sub-biome to the deep dark, where the deep dark is competing with the underground jungle.
the caves underneath the mushroom island have had an overhaul.
Jungle caves with giant mushrooms and Hoppleshrooms.
Ice caves beneath a glacier.
The Underground jungle and its variants are inspired by the underground jungles from Terraria and spawn under all types of jungle biomes.
The underground lush mesa generates below lush mesa biomes, it is like the underground jungle, and like the underground mesa, the underground lush mesa is made from terracotta instead of stone.
the caves underneath the mesa now continue the terracotta downwards.
Overworld Aerospace Biomes
Sky City
High above the mountains, the Sky City generates as a jigsaw structure: floating islands connected by cloud paths, with houses, towers, and fountains built from sky wood and with dense cloud brick that you float onto, and harpies defending it.
Mobs
Blocks
Around 100 new blocks and 30+ items, including three full wood sets (mystic, palm, and sky, each with planks, doors, stairs, fences, trapdoors, and boats), 12 colors of mushrooms with matching huge mushroom variants, dense cloud bricks, pebbles, and nether ore variants.
