| Defiled Lands | 1.9+ | Required, install it yourself |
| GeckoLib | 4.8.4+ | Required, already bundled — no separate download |

Content
Skeleton King
A two-phase boss. Can only be summoned at a Conjuring Altar — it never spawns naturally. Has a boss bar, and the screen darkens while you fight it.
Entrance and exit
- After being summoned it goes through an invulnerable wind-up, with a blood rune rising at its feet. It won't attack during this, and you can't hurt it either
- On death it doesn't just vanish — it dissolves into red particles
Resistances
- Counts as undead
- Immune to fire
- Immune to knockback — you can't stagger it or push it around
- Immune to fall damage
- Immune to all damage from undead — its own minions and their stray arrows can't hurt it, and won't drag it into infighting
- Won't despawn when you walk away
Movement
- Hovers just above the ground. Climb above its head and it flies up after you — high ground won't save you
- Its body doesn't pass through walls, so kiting it around terrain is still a valid tactic
Phase one
- Melee sweep: a cone in front of it. Get behind it and you take nothing. It does no line-of-sight check, so the damage goes through walls — hiding behind a block hurts just as much
- Charge: stops when it hits a wall, but the damage along its path goes through walls. A hit deals damage, applies a long Vulnerability, and launches you
- Teleport strike: back off too far and it won't walk to you — it blinks straight to your side. Flying doesn't help either
- Summon: calls in Skeleton Warriors and Archers, up to a cap on how many can be out at once
- All of its area damage only affects non-undead, so it never hits its own minions
Phase two (triggers below half health)
It's invulnerable during the transition and a blood rune rises again, then:
- New look, visibly different
- Faster
- Takes less damage across the board — noticeably tankier
- Lifesteals on melee hits, so dragging the fight out heals it
- Immune to magic damage — throwing healing potions at undead, the usual counter, does nothing here. Don't count on it
- Gains a guard stance: heavily reduced damage while its blade is up, and hitting it triggers an immediate counter-charge. Attacking into this is a bad trade
- Its summons now include a Mage that hangs back and heals it — deal with that one first
Drops: bones, a pile of Umbrium Ingots and Scarlite, plus a guaranteed Skeleton King's Blade. Enough material to go straight into crafting a set of gear.
Minions
Three mobs. Besides being summoned by the king, they also spawn in groups out in the world.
Skeleton Warrior — Melee. It plants its feet while swinging and only lands damage on one specific frame, so the rhythm is readable and you can time your dodges.
Skeleton Archer — Ranged. Its draw has a clear wind-up and the arrow only leaves the bow on release. Get close and it backs off and circles, kiting you.
Skeleton Mage — The annoying one. Throws skulls that apply debuffs, drops healing clouds on wounded undead allies (that cloud damages you), and teleports the moment you get near — usually landing next to another skeleton to use it as a shield.
Items
Skeleton King's Blade — Guaranteed drop from the king. Slow and heavy. Hits apply Defiled Lands' Vulnerability (raises the damage the target takes — not vanilla Weakness, which lowers attack), and it hurts living things a lot more than undead. Fireproof.
Royal Skull — What you use to summon the king. Craftable. Right-click an active Conjuring Altar with it (an altar counts as active when the two blocks above it are clear).
Spawning
The three minions show up in Defiled biomes and in the Soul Sand Valley.
