About this project
What does Usu's Item Model Delay add?
Item Model Delay
Item Model Delay is a lightweight, client-side Fabric mod that gives resource pack creators more control over item model transitions and animations.
Minecraft normally changes item models immediately when their properties change. Item Model Delay lets resource packs add configurable delays to those transitions, allowing models to remain visible for a set amount of time before switching.
The mod supports conditional, range, and select item model properties, as well as optional particle and sound effects when transitions occur.
Features
• Configurable delays for conditional, range, and select item model properties
• Delay duration configurable in ticks
• Conditional delays can apply on hold, release, or both
• Supports Custom Model Data and item components
• Supports properties such as item use, damage, stack count, charge states, trims, time, and more
• Optional particle effects when model transitions occur
• Optional custom sounds supplied by resource packs
• Simple .mdprop configuration files
• Works alongside vanilla item model JSONs
• Completely client-side
• No server installation requiredExample
A resource pack can delay the using_item property with:
using_item.delay=20
using_item.mode=bothThis keeps the previous model visible for 20 ticks before changing.
Conditional properties support three modes:
• hold — delays the transition when the condition becomes active
• release — delays the transition when the condition becomes inactive
• both — delays both transitionsParticles and Sounds
Model transitions can also trigger particle effects and custom sounds. These can occur when the visible model changes or when a delayed return/release finishes.
Resource packs can provide their own particle textures and sound files.
What Can It Be Used For?
• Attack and swing animations
• Item use animations
• Charge and release animations
• Durability-based transitions
• Stack-count animations
• Custom Model Data animations
• Component-driven models
• Trim and equipment transitions
• Time-based models
• Transition particles and soundsItem Model Delay does not add custom items, models, or animations by itself. It provides additional functionality for resource packs that make use of it.
