About this project
What does Pastbound add?
Pastbound: Echoes of the Past
Pastbound is a history-focused adventure mod for Minecraft 26.2 and NeoForge, built around one question: what if the past could answer back?
Discover lost relics, recover historical echoes, and step into living scenes inspired by humanity’s greatest moments of invention, travel, writing, science, craftsmanship, conflict, and exploration. Pastbound turns history into an interactive adventure rather than a collection of static references.
Unearth the Relics
Relics are rare historical artifacts found exclusively in selected loot chests. Search villages, Trial Chambers, and Ancient Cities for objects connected to civilizations, journeys, technologies, and ideas from across history. Relics do not have crafting recipes, so every discovery feels like an archaeological find.
The mod includes 24 unique relics, each with its own name, historical identity, riddle, discovery path, passive behavior, and active ability. Relic effects combine familiar Minecraft effects with custom historical powers, including the unique Historical Echo effect.
Learn Relics Your Way
Relic discovery is not limited to a single ordering puzzle. Each unknown relic can be approached through a GUI-only historical trial with multiple interaction styles:
•Solve the relic’s historical riddle directly in the Relic Journal.
•Complete a historical echo sequence when the relevant event has been awakened.
•Hold Shift and right-click to spend the required experience level and identify the relic directly.
No riddle commands or chat-based puzzle commands are required. The Relic Journal, trial screens, clues, and discovery feedback are handled through in-game interfaces designed to fit Minecraft’s visual language.
Equip and Awaken Your Collection
Pastbound adds a dedicated Curios relic system with 10 physical relic slots. Every player begins with 8 available slots. The final 2 slots can be unlocked by exchanging 10 Netherite Blocks.
Each relic slot has its own activation keybind, with F1–F10 assigned by default and fully remappable from Minecraft’s Controls menu. The classic V shortcut remains available for awakening the first suitable known relic. Passive relic behavior activates while a relic is properly equipped, while active powers are triggered intentionally instead of applying unwanted permanent effects.
Travel Through Living History
Craft the Time Machine with:
•2 Diamonds
•1 Gold Ingot
•5 Stone
•1 Time Stone
The Time Machine opens a destination interface containing 12 historical locations and themes. Every outward journey consumes 1 Time Stone, giving exploration a meaningful cost without making return travel unnecessarily expensive.
When you arrive, the journey does not end with a simple teleport. You enter the Pastbound historical exploration dimension, where the selected destination receives its own scene decoration, atmosphere, historical focus, and staged narration. Named historical actors help bring the scene to life. During the opening sequence, the player can observe the reconstruction and press D whenever they are ready to take control and explore the scene freely.
Choose from destinations inspired by themes such as:
•The first cities and writing houses of Uruk
•The Battle of Thermopylae
•The Library of Alexandria
•Ancient electrical experimentation in Baghdad
•The Antikythera mechanism and astronomical calculation
•The House of Wisdom
•Timbuktu’s manuscript traditions
•Tenochtitlan and the Five Suns
•Polynesian star navigation
•Çatalhöyük and early settlement life
•The Apollo lunar mission
•Silk Road caravan exchange
Use the Time Machine again inside the historical dimension to return safely to the world and position where your journey began.
A World Full of Historical Echoes
Pastbound also reacts to ordinary Minecraft actions and surroundings. Books, maps, metals, clocks, water, height, night skies, archaeology, agriculture, glassmaking, navigation, observation, law, medicine, and trade can all awaken global historical events.
The mod contains 20 global history events and 24 historical echo trials. Their messages are written as narrative discoveries rather than one-line notifications, connecting gameplay actions to the human stories behind writing, farming, engineering, medicine, astronomy, law, travel, craft, and cultural exchange.
Additional Features
•Furnace on a Stick for portable smelting.
•Chest-only relic acquisition with rarity-focused exploration.
•24 relics with distinct historical identities and abilities.

Compatibility
Pastbound targets Minecraft 26.2, NeoForge 26.2.0.66, and Curios 16.0.0+26.2. Install the required loader and Curios version before launching the game.
For the best experience, remove older Pastbound JAR files before installing a newer release. Keep only one Pastbound JAR in the mods folder.
Pastbound is designed as a historical fantasy adventure. Its locations, artifacts, and scenes are inspired by real historical themes, but the mod combines documented history with interactive Minecraft gameplay and fictionalized time-travel storytellin
