About this project
What does Corpsebound add?
Corpsebound
Death should leave more than a puff of particles.
Ragdoll Corpses is an original corpse overhaul for Minecraft Forge that turns player and mob deaths into physical, lootable bodies.
Corpses react to the force and direction of the fatal hit, collide with the environment, retain their appearance and equipment, and become persistent containers that players can search for loot. It is designed for immersive combat, survival worlds, RPG modpacks, and multiplayer servers.
Core Features
- Physics-driven corpses with independently moving heads, torsos, arms, and legs.
- Solid one-piece limbs that move naturally from their joints without bending in the middle.
- Varied death reactions based on impact direction, momentum, and independent randomized limb movement.
- World collision and self-collision to reduce bodies sinking into blocks or passing through themselves.
- Server-authoritative physics with smooth client synchronization for multiplayer.
- Sleeping physics and distance-based updates to reduce performance usage after bodies stop moving.
- Four fallback body profiles for humanoid, quadruped, aquatic/flying, and compact creatures.
Lootable Corpse Containers
Right-click a corpse to search its inventory.
- The container automatically adjusts from one to six rows depending on how much loot remains.
- Ordinary death drops are captured and stored inside the corpse.
- Loot order is shuffled and remains stable after saving and reloading.
- Mob-held weapons are dropped onto the ground.
- Worn armor remains visible on the corpse.
- Taking armor from the container immediately removes it from the corpse model.
- Corpse-generated player heads are never duplicated inside the corpse inventory.
- Excess items that cannot fit are safely dropped instead of being deleted.
Persistent Bodies
- Player corpses never expire, even after every item has been removed.
- Player corpses survive normal world saves, server restarts, reconnecting, respawning, and dimension changes.
- Mob corpses remain while players are still near the area.
- Mob cleanup begins only after every player has genuinely left.
- Observation distance, departure distance, and cleanup delays are configurable.
- Any items left inside a mob corpse are dropped when it is eventually cleaned up.
Appearance and Equipment
Compatible entities preserve their actual appearance instead of becoming generic colored boxes.
Ragdoll Corpses can capture:
- Original model parts, textures, and UV coordinates
- Baby proportions and individual entity scaling
- Standard Minecraft and Forge humanoid models
- Standard and compatible custom Forge armor models
- Entity Model Features and Entity Texture Features variants
- Compatible GeckoLib 4 and AzureLib 3 entities and armor
Unusual or unsupported models use a safe fallback representation rather than preventing the corpse from spawning.
Modded Creature Support
Ragdoll Corpses provides broad, best-effort support for modded living entities and equipment.
Standard humanoids can receive fully articulated bodies, while animals and unusual creatures are classified into suitable fallback body types. Data packs may also override entity classifications using EntityType tags.
Highly specialized multi-segment bosses, serpentine creatures, dragons, or completely private rendering systems may use a simplified rigid fallback.
Optional Integrations
Iron & Blood
- Preserves supported humanoid wound and blood-skin visuals.
- A lethal headshot has a configurable chance to physically detach the head.
- The default detachment chance is 30%, rolled once by the server.
- Detached player heads can be collected by right-clicking them.
- Collected player heads retain the player's profile and skin information.
Worthy Adversaries
- Preserves supported per-entity visual size scaling so corpses match the original creature’s size.
These integrations are optional. No additional content mod is required to use Ragdoll Corpses.
Multiplayer
Ragdoll Corpses supports both singleplayer and multiplayer.
For multiplayer, the same version must be installed on the server and every connecting client. Corpse positions, inventories, equipment changes, interactions, and permanent state are synchronized by the server.
Current Limitations
- Slimes and Magma Cubes intentionally do not create corpses.
- Extremely unusual custom models may not support full articulation.
- Armor or entities using completely non-standard rendering systems may fall back to a safer representation.
- This is an alpha release, so backing up important worlds before testing is recommended.
