Time-based enchantment progression. Your gear grows stronger the longer you play.

AutoEnchantEvolution completely rethinks how enchantments work in Minecraft. Instead of spending XP levels at an enchanting table, your tools and armor form a bond with you. The longer you keep them in your inventory, the more powerful they become. Start with weak Novice-tier enchantments and evolve your gear over hours of gameplay into Mythic-tier weapons of mass destruction.

📜 The Bond System

Every second you have a tool or piece of armor in your inventory, its Bond Time increases. As bond time grows, the item passes through five tiers. Each tier unlocks access to better enchantment pools and changes the visual particles around you.

Tiers & Visuals

  • Novice (5-10 min) — Crimson Spore Particles
    • Weak enchantments: Unbreaking I, Smite I, Efficiency I
  • Adept (15–20 min) — Totem Particles
    • Basic enchantments: Sharpness II, Protection II, Fortune II
  • Master (25–30 min) — Flame Particles
    • Strong enchantments: Sharpness IV, Fire Aspect, Looting II
  • Legendary (35–60 min) — Soul Particles
    • Max vanilla enchantments: Sharpness V, Mending, Fortune III
  • Mythic (1hour+ min) — Reverse Portal Particles
    • Superior enchantments past vanilla caps: Sharpness 6+, Protection 5+, Flame 2+

At each tier, the item periodically gains a new enchantment or upgrades an existing one. Early tiers upgrade every 30 seconds. Mythic tier upgrades every 2 minutes — making every upgrade feel earned. When an item reaches Mythic, it is automatically renamed to Ancient [Item Name] in red text.

Superior Enchantments

When an enchantment passes its vanilla maximum level, it becomes Superior. Superior enchantments are displayed in gold bold text and scale indefinitely up to level 1,000,000. A Superior Sharpness sword does more damage than vanilla Sharpness V. A Superior Flame bow sets enemies on fire longer. All enchantment levels are displayed as literal numbers with comma formatting (e.g., Sharpness 1,234), no roman numerals.

✨ Quality of Life & Tech

  • Enchantment Descriptions: Every vanilla enchantment now has a grey italic description in its tooltip explaining exactly what it does.
  • Anti-Interrupt Mining: The bond timer ticks in server memory and only writes to the item when you're NOT swinging. Your mining progress bar will never reset.
  • Anvil Preservation: Combining a bonded item in an anvil preserves the bond time.
  • Hardcore Death Penalty: In normal mode, bond time is safe. In Hardcore worlds, dying wipes your bond progress back to zero.
  • Mythic Set Bonus: Wearing a full set of Mythic (60+ min) armor grants permanent Resistance, Strength, and Speed.
  • Adaptive Performance: The mod includes a built-in TPS monitor. If your server is struggling, it automatically slows down processing to prevent lag. It also completely ignores fake players from automation mods.
  • Smart Chat Notifications: Automatic chat messages pop up when your gear gains an enchantment or reaches a new tier.

⚙️ Configuration

All settings are configurable via config/autoenchantevolution-common.toml:
