What does IronGrid add?
IronGrid is a large-scale industrial technology mod that transforms Minecraft survival into a deep journey of engineering, automation, and technological progression. Starting with basic metals such as copper and tin, players gradually unlock advanced alloys, complex components, powerful machinery, automated production lines, high-capacity energy networks, nuclear technology, and endgame orbital engineering.
The mod introduces a complete resource-processing chain with custom ores, raw materials, dusts, ingots, plates, wires, circuits, advanced electronic components, and specialized alloys. Machines such as the Electric Furnace, Macerator, Compressor, Extractor, Recycler, Alloy Smelter, Chemical Reactor, Centrifuge, Electrolyzer, Distillation Column, and many others allow resources to be processed more efficiently or transformed into entirely new materials. Machine upgrades provide improved energy efficiency and parallel processing, allowing factories to grow alongside the player’s technological progress.
IronGrid uses its own EU-based energy system with generators, solar panels, wind turbines, water-powered systems, nuclear reactors, advanced power plants, energy storage blocks, charging stations, and several tiers of cables. Different cables have their own transfer limits and progression requirements, while wireless transmitters make it possible to build more flexible energy networks. Machines, storage blocks, cables, generators, and industrial infrastructure are designed to work together as one connected system.
Automation plays a major role in IronGrid. Item pipes, transparent fluid pipes, import buses, export buses, industrial storage, pumps, tanks, and configurable machine sides can be combined to create automatic factories. Items visibly travel through pipes, fluids can be transported between machines and reservoirs, and large or modded inventories are supported. The automated quarry can mine resources over time, interact with logistics networks, and provide visual feedback while breaking blocks.
The mod also expands fluid processing through oil extraction and refining. Oil can be collected, transported through fluid networks, stored in reservoirs, and processed into rubber, fuel, polymers, lubricant, bitumen, and other valuable industrial materials. Canisters provide portable fluid storage, while pumps and configurable fluid connections allow production chains to be automated.
Nuclear power offers enormous energy output but requires careful engineering. Reactors consume specialized fuel cells, produce heat, and must be supplied with sufficient cooling. Water can be delivered through fluid pipes, cooling components can improve stability, and emergency reactor systems can immediately stop the reaction when safe operating conditions are lost. Poorly designed or neglected reactors may overheat and cause catastrophic explosions.
IronGrid includes useful industrial equipment for exploration, construction, combat, and survival. Electric tools, mining drills, advanced armor, portable energy equipment, scanning devices, charging systems, force-field technology, teleportation machinery, and other specialized devices provide practical benefits beyond factory automation. Equipment can be charged using standard charging machines or larger charging cabinets, with upgrades increasing the charging speed.
Late-game progression moves far beyond ordinary industry. Players can construct extremely expensive power systems, matter-processing technology, orbital infrastructure, satellite components, and a pilotable satellite. The satellite can be fueled, flown at extreme altitude, equipped for specialized missions, and used to obtain rare orbital resources. Running out of fuel while airborne has real consequences, making preparation and maintenance essential.
A built-in Engineering Tablet serves as the central guide for the entire mod. It contains information about items, blocks, machines, energy systems, progression stages, quests, and recipes. Crafting and processing recipes are displayed visually with real item icons and ingredient quantities. The guide also includes navigation tools, bookmarks, filters, machine diagnostics, and progression-based quests that reward players as their industrial network develops.
IronGrid is designed as a long-term survival experience rather than a collection of disconnected machines.
