About this project
What does PickLoot add?
PickLoot
Stop picking up junk. Start choosing your loot.

PickLoot transforms every dropped item into a deliberate choice.
Walk over drops without automatically filling your inventory. A stylish card-based HUD shows what is nearby, lets you choose exactly what you want, and keeps everything else on the ground.
| PICK ONE | TAKE IT ALL | IGNORE THE CLUTTER |
|---|---|---|
| Select one stack with a configurable key | Collect everything nearby instantly | Enable smart filtering only when you want it |
Your loot. Your controls. Your interface.
🎯 LOOT WITH INTENTION
Minecraft normally grabs anything you walk over. PickLoot gives that decision back to you.
- Automatic walk-over collection is disabled for PickLoot-managed drops.
- Press one configurable key to collect the selected stack.
- Use a separate configurable key to collect every nearby item.
- Prefer combinations? Keep the optional modifier + pickup-key action.
- Scroll through loot with the mouse wheel or dedicated previous/next keys.
- Configure wheel direction and whether scrolling needs a modifier.
- Choose separate interaction distances for first-person and third-person gameplay.
Moving in third person will not scramble the list. Existing cards remain stable, items leaving your radius disappear without reshuffling everything, and newly detected drops are added at the bottom.
✨ A LOOT HUD THAT FEELS PART OF THE GAME
PickLoot is not another inventory window covering the screen. Its cards live inside the world and stay readable while you move. Choose between:
- Signature 3D mode: Semi-inclined cards with depth and personality.
- Flat mode: A compact, clean presentation inspired by modern action RPG interfaces.
Make it yours:
- Drag the loot list and controls panel visually with the mouse.
- Scale both panels independently.
- Choose how many cards may appear simultaneously.
- Keep the pickup-key indicator after the tutorial fades.
- Read long modded names through smooth, synchronized text scrolling.
- Use a front-right scrollbar that remains aligned with the cards.
- Replace the default title or leave it blank for the translated PickLoot name.
🔎 SMART FILTERING—ONLY WHEN YOU ENABLE IT
The smart filter is disabled by default. Every new player sees all nearby loot until they decide to turn filtering on with its configurable key. When enabled, PickLoot can hide ordinary clutter while preserving equipment, named items, special drops and valuables.
- Persistent whitelist for items that must always remain visible.
- Persistent blacklist for items you never want in the list.
- Inventory-based visual filter editor.
- Optional JEI integration for adding displayed ingredients directly to either list.
Nothing is deleted. Filtered items simply remain on the ground and outside the PickLoot cards.
💎 KNOW WHAT IS WORTH PICKING UP
Every card can display a rarity diamond:
| NORMAL | COMMON | RARE | EPIC | LEGENDARY |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Everyday | Progression | Valuable | Exceptional | Enchanted |
PickLoot does not blindly copy Minecraft's tooltip colors. Vanilla 1.21.1 items use a complete survival-oriented hierarchy based on difficulty of acquisition, exploration danger, drop probability, scarcity, and progression value.
Made for modded Minecraft
For objects added by other mods, PickLoot resolves rarity through several safe fallbacks:
- The rarity published by the item itself.
- Shared tags for gems, ores, raw materials and ingots.
- Conservative recognition of artifacts, relics, equipment and high-tier materials.
- Exact item and tag overrides supplied by the modpack author.
Create unlimited visual rarity colors without recompiling the mod through config/pickloot-rarities.json. (Obscure Tooltips compatibility is optional. PickLoot works without it).
🎨 BUILT FOR MODPACK CREATORS
Turn PickLoot into part of your modpack's identity. Official resource-pack support covers:
- Normal and selected card frames (both flat and 3D modes)
- Pickup-key prompt & Tutorial panel
- Five colored rarity diamonds & Tintable rarity masks
- Translated HUD text & Custom selection sound
The creator download includes optimized nine-slice assets, configuration examples, the definitive Minecraft 1.21.1 rarity table, and a dedicated AI maintenance guide. PickLoot validates protected official-theme files during resource reload and falls back to the built-in procedural HUD instead of crashing the game if files are incomplete.
🔊 SMALL DETAILS THAT MAKE LOOTING FEEL GOOD
- Optional sound whenever the selection changes.
- Independent sound enable and volume controls.
- Resource-pack replacement for custom roulette sounds.
- Persistent NEW label that disappears after collecting that item for the first time.
- Configurable card count, panel colors, selection accent, and rarity colors.
- Every gameplay key can be rebound through Minecraft's Controls menu.
🔧 COMPATIBILITY
PickLoot runs without optional integration mods.
| Integration | What it adds | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Configuration | Generated configuration interface | No |
| Just Enough Items (JEI) | Easier whitelist and blacklist selection | No |
| ItemPhysic | Compatible physical dropped-item rendering | No |
| Obscure Tooltips | Compatible effective rarity information | No |
Without Configuration, PickLoot still provides its native NeoForge configuration screen.
❓ QUICK FAQ
Is PickLoot client-only?
No. The HUD and controls run on the client, while authoritative item collection is handled safely by the server. Install it on both sides for multiplayer. Single-player only needs the normal local installation.
Does it require ItemPhysic, JEI, Configuration or Obscure Tooltips?
No. All four are strictly optional integrations.
Does filtering destroy hidden items?
No. They stay in the world; the filter only removes them from the visible list.
Can every key be changed?
Yes. Pickup, pickup-all, filtering, navigation and their related combinations are completely configurable.
Can a modpack use a completely different interface?
Yes. Start with the official creator template and follow its included resource-pack and license documentation.
