MCG Core [API]

MCG Core is the shared foundation for every mod made by MCG-Modding, and it is also a mod in its own right: it provides the in-game guidebook that all MCG mods write into. Install any MCG mod and it registers itself with Core automatically, no configuration, no setup step, no second keybind competing for the same letter. Press H and the book opens with a tab for every MCG mod and every MCG Guidebook you have installed. Core is client-side, so it works in single player, on any server whether or not the server runs it, and in any modpack.

The reason Core exists is that a guidebook per mod does not scale. Five mods means five books, five keybinds and five different layouts to learn, and most of them get opened once and never again. Core inverts that. There is one book, one key, and one set of habits to learn, and every mod that plugs into it inherits the whole interface, the page-flip art, the search, the tooltips, the settings, the item lookup. A mod author gets a full documentation system for free, and the player gets somewhere consistent to look things up.

Progress fills itself in as you play. Core quietly notes every item that passes through your inventory, per world, stored as a plain file on your own machine and never sent anywhere. Items you have not found yet sit faded in the guide's item list, so a page you have barely touched looks different from one you have worked through. Getting Started steps tick themselves off when the items they call for actually turn up in your inventory.

Core additionally provides the shared dialogue system: your mod supplies the words, the branching and the data, and Core draws the scroll, the paging, the choices and the text input, so NPC conversation looks the same across every mod that uses it. Guides can also be split into several files gated by your mod's version, so a page set written for 1.x and one for 2.x can live in the same jar and the right one loads.
