About this project

What does Modpack Assistant add?

Modpack Assistant

Server-side commands for modpack development and server administration. World inspection, region editing, loot and spawn simulation, recipe and tag audits, and the usual admin conveniences.

Modpack Assistant doesn't add any blocks, items, entities, or GUIs. Everything it does is via commands, so it drops into a pack without interfering with anything else. Can be added or removed from a pack at any time.

Vanilla clients can connect and use every feature. The only client-side extra is automatic clipboard copying, which falls back to click-to-copy chat when the mod is not installed on the client.

Analysis and reports

Read-only scans that write a report file under logs/modpackassistant/.

Command Purpose
/ma scanOres <chunk_radius> [min_y] [max_y] Ore distribution by block and by height
/ma mapBiomes <radius> [interval] [y] Biome coverage over an area, without loading chunks
/ma simulateLoot <iterations> <loot_table> [luck] Drop statistics for any loot table
/ma simulateSpawns <biome> <dimension> <ticks> Estimated natural spawning, no entities added to the world
/ma findConflicts [type] Recipes that consume the same inputs
/ma findUncraftables [namespace] Items with no recipe, loot table, or trade source
/ma auditUnification [namespace] Material tags holding several items, or none at all
/ma exportTags <item/block/entity/fluid> [json/csv] Every registered object with its tags

Simulations state their expected results and list any rule they could not evaluate.

World editing

Command Purpose
/ma clear <radius> [keep <ores/ores_and_modded/nothing> / remove <predicate>] [protect_bedrock] Mass-delete blocks across a chunk region
/ma drain [location] <radius> Flood-fill removal of a connected body of fluid
/ma kill <type> or /ma kill by <entity> Bulk entity removal
/ma minearea <radius> [harvest] Simulate mining every ore in a region and bank the drops in barrels
/ma testStructureLoot <structure> [samples] Chests of generated loot per structure loot table, with signs, plus a clear that removes exactly what it placed
/ma cancel Abort the active long-running operation

Region commands use one radius convention throughout: radius 0 is a single chunk, radius n is (2n+1) chunks per side. Messages always state the real chunk span rather than the raw argument. Bedrock protection defaults to on, and bulk entity removal respects adatapack protection tag and never catches players except through the explicit player-targeting types.

Admin conveniences

Command Purpose
/toggledownfall Flip overworld weather between clear and rain
/ma devenv <true/false> Freeze or restore daylight, weather, and mob spawning
/ma opsword A netherite sword enchanted to level 255
/ma enchant add <enchantment> <0-255> Enchant the held item past normal limits
/ma enchant remove <enchantment> Strip one enchantment from the held item
/ma repair [player] Repair the held item
/ma heal [player], /ma feed [player] Restore health and hunger
/ma god [player] Toggle invulnerability
/ma nightvision Toggle permanent night vision
/ma tpd <dimension> [targets] Move entities to another dimension safely

Item data extraction

/ma hand, /ma print <source>, and /ma copy <source> [format] read from eight item sources (hand, offhand, hotbar, inventory, inventory_and_hotbar, armor, everything, and the inventory of a targeted player) and write in nine formats: plain, components, NBT, SNBT, JSON, KubeJS, KubeJS native, CraftTweaker, and CSV. Useful for pasting an exact stack into a script or a recipe without hand-writing component syntax.

How long operations behave

Region clears, ore surveys, mining simulations, and fluid drains are decomposed into per-chunk jobs on a shared tick scheduler. Nothing scans or edits a whole region inside a single tick. Only one run is active at a time and it updates on report progress, refuses to overlap, and stops on /ma cancel.

Configuration

config/modpackassistant-common.toml holds the permission level for item inspection, the radius, iteration, and block caps for each expensive command, the report directory, and the job interval.

Admin commands default to permission level 2.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 26.1.2
  • NeoForge 26.1.2.73 or newer
  • Java 25
  • Server side. Installing on the client is optional and only enables automatic clipboard copying.
