About this project

What does CoreSample add?

CoreSample is a lightweight geological surveying mod that lets you analyze what lies beneath your current chunk without revealing exact ore locations.

Place a Core Sampler, insert a blank sample sheet, and let the machine scan the chunk below it. Once the scan is complete, it produces a detailed geological report divided into depth bands, showing the ores and host materials detected underground.

Features

  • Scans the current 16×16 chunk from the sampler down toward the bottom of the world
  • Generates reports divided into 6 depth bands
  • Displays ore composition as either percentages or exact block counts
  • Supports modded ores through standard ore tags
  • Works with already-generated terrain and does not modify world generation
  • Does not reveal exact ore coordinates, keeping exploration and mining relevant
  • Animated Core Sampler with paper feeding, printing effects and machine sounds
  • Reports can be kept and reviewed later
  • Configurable scan performance and report settings

CoreSample is designed for players who want geological information without turning prospecting into an X-ray system. It works especially well in exploration, technology and large modpack environments.

Some GUI and texture assets are adapted from Unused Textures by Malcolm Riley, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Full attribution is included with the mod.
