What does bicarbonate add?

In this mod, you can mine nahcolite dust and process it into baking soda.

With this and a few crafting steps, you can prevent ice in cold biomes from ever freezing again. By using a stone hoe (or better), you can remove the effect and allow it to freeze once more.
