About this project

What does IC2 Radiation add?

☢️ IC2 Radiation

IC2 Radiation is a lightweight addon for IndustrialCraft 2 that makes nuclear reactor accidents much more dangerous by introducing persistent environmental radiation.

Instead of a reactor explosion being just a one-time disaster, the affected area remains radioactive long after the explosion.

💥 Radiation Zones

When an IC2 Nuclear Reactor explodes, IC2 Radiation creates a radioactive zone at the explosion site.

The size and strength of the zone depend on the explosion strength:

Radius = Explosion Strength × 6

Radiation is strongest near the center of the accident and gradually decreases with distance.

☢️ Multiple Radiation Zones

Multiple radioactive zones can exist in the same world.

If zones overlap, their radiation stacks together, creating much more dangerous areas.

This makes large reactor accidents and multiple nearby explosions especially hazardous.

⏳ Radiation Decay

Radiation slowly decays over time.

The zone's strength decreases by approximately 1% every 1200 ticks, causing the affected area to gradually become smaller and safer.

Eventually, weak radiation zones can disappear completely.

👤 Player Radiation Dose

Players have their own Accumulated Dose, which represents the total amount of radiation they have received.

Staying inside a radioactive area increases the player's dose depending on the current radiation level and exposure time.

After leaving the contaminated area, the accumulated dose slowly decreases.

🤢 Radiation Effects

Higher radiation doses cause increasingly severe effects:

  • 100 mSv – Weakness I

  • 300 mSv – Slowness I + Weakness I

  • 600 mSv – Weakness II + Slowness I + damage

  • 1000 mSv – Slowness II + Weakness II + increased damage

  • 1500 mSv – Slowness II + Weakness II + Nausea + severe damage

Surviving the reactor explosion does not necessarily mean you're safe. Staying in the contaminated area can eventually become fatal.

📟 Dosimeter

IC2 Radiation adds a custom Dosimeter that allows players to monitor radiation levels.

It displays:

  • Dose Rate (mSv/h) – current radiation intensity

  • Accumulated Dose (mSv) – total radiation received

  • Radiation Level – SAFE / CAUTION / ELEVATED / DANGEROUS / SEVERE / EXTREME

The Dosimeter has its own texture and crafting recipe. (Use JEI)

🔧 Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.12.2

  • Minecraft Forge 14.23.5.2864

  • IndustrialCraft 2 2.8.170-ex112

IC2 Radiation does not replace or modify the core IC2 nuclear reactor system. It works as an addon that adds long-term radiation and consequences to reactor accidents.
