About this project
What does GLFW X11 Fix add?
Fixes GLFW/X11 crashes in Minecraft 1.19–1.20.1 modpacks on Linux x86_64 and ARM64.
Some modpacks open enough files for the X11 connection's file descriptor to reach 1024 or higher. Older GLFW versions use select()/FD_SET, which cannot handle these descriptor numbers and can crash the game.
Fabric Loader opens 2 file descriptors for each mod. Some mods also open additional file descriptors. So if the displayed mod count (not the number of JAR files) exceeds around 450, you most likely need this mod on the affected Minecraft versions.
This mod bundles GLFW natives from LWJGL 3.3.3 containing the upstream fix discussed in GLFW PR #2024. It replaces select() with poll() for X11 event waiting, fixing the crash without reducing the number of open files.
Compatibility issues are not expected: adding the mod serves the same purpose as pointing LWJGL at the updated GLFW library through a JVM argument such as -Dorg.lwjgl.glfw.libname=.... It does not modify Minecraft's Java code or replace the LWJGL Java bindings.
The mod includes libglfw.so for Linux x86_64 and ARM64. Windows and macOS continue using their normal native libraries, so adding the mod to a shared modpack is not expected to affect the game on those platforms.
