About this project
What does Dragons & Bastions add?
Dragons & Bastions adds ballistas, dragons, traps, and new crafting recipes to Minecraft. The mod expands village and base defenses while introducing dragons that players can fight or raise into rideable mounts. Ballistas and Defenses Three ballista variants support different defensive roles: light, medium, and heavy. Each has different damage, range, and firing speed. Their bolts can pierce up to three creatures. Ballistas can be placed on the ground, on walls, or on ceilings. A fletching table beneath or beside their base provides unlimited ammunition. Without a table, they consume arrows from their inventory. Three specialized fletching tables change their projectiles:
- Obsidian: armor-piercing bolts.
- Infernal: incendiary bolts that can start fires.
- Depths: echo bolts that create a shockwave and knock enemies back. Wooden and iron-reinforced spike traps provide additional protection. On certain nights, an invasion gradually spawns up to 200 zombies in waves. Dragons and Mounts Red, green, and blue dragons inhabit lairs associated with different mountainous environments. Their lairs contain eggs and treasure. Wild dragons defend their territory, while dragons seeking a new home may attack structures along their route. Players can fight dragons for resources or hatch their eggs near a heat source. Hatchlings can become tame depending on their hatching conditions, then grow with the required care and food. Tamed adult dragons can be saddled, equipped, and ridden, both on the ground and in flight. Riders can use a flame breath attack and fireballs. Commands allow dragons to follow their owner, guard a position, or patrol an area. A saddle fitted with two double chests provides 108 storage slots. Crafting and Resources New recipes cover ballistas, specialized fletching tables, traps, and dragon equipment. Damaged ballistas can be recovered from abandoned villages and mineshafts, then repaired at a crafting table. Dragon scales can be crafted into reinforcements for existing armor, applied at a smithing table while preserving enchantments. A fully reinforced armor set protects against fire and improves movement through lava. Dragon hearts are used to upgrade certain equipment. A Dragon Hunter, carrying a diamond sword and wearing diamond armor, offers dragon-related trades, including scales, hearts, specialized supplies, and maps to known lairs. The hunter’s workstation allows them to restock their trades.
