About this project

What does Rat Currency add?

Rat Currency icon

Rat Currency

Tiered coins, pouches, and loot for a basic currency system. Configurable for a dedicated server / modpack environment if desired.

Minecraft 1.20.1 Latest Version 1.0.2 Requires RatLib

Note: Requires RatLib, a library mod to function properly.

Overview

Rat Currency adds a coin economy that other mods can share. Hostile mobs drop copper-value coins. You convert those coins up a ten-tier ladder, stash them in pouches and cases, and spend them anywhere a compatible mod asks for payment.

The point of the mod is not a shop of its own. It's to add a common currency with basic storage for it and a small API so traders, quests, and loot in other packs can all use the same coins.

Coins auto-combine as you pick them up. Wear or carry a pouch, and drops go straight into it instead of filling your inventory.

Coins

Ten coin tiers. Coins stack to 100 & will auto-convert to 1 of the next tier.

Copper Silver Gold Platinum Sapphire Emerald Ruby Diamond Obsidian Netherite

Copper → Silver → Gold → Platinum → Sapphire → Emerald → Ruby → Diamond → Obsidian → Netherite

  • Craft 100 lower-tier coins into 1 next-tier up coin. Coins stack to 100.
  • Craft 1 higher-tier coin back into 100 previous tier coins.
  • Picked up coins will automatically craft into the next tier.

Compatibility

Required

  • RatLib 1.0.7 or newer — shared library this mod registers its coin service with. Used by my other mods as well--always use latest unless stated otherwise.

Optional

  • Curios 5.4 or newer
    • Adds a Currency equipment slot
    • Coin Pouch: Currency slot and Belt
    • Coin Case: Currency slot and Hands

Tested with 500+ Forge mods, if you encounter any conflicts with other mods, please report the issue.

Custom Advancements

  • "Hey, a wallet!" - Obtain a coin pouch
  • "Time to buy Porygon" - Obtain a coin case
  • "Greed" - Hold 100 Netherite Coins

Q & A

Will other Versions be supported?

Possibly. Definitely neighboring Forge & I could see a 1.21 NeoForge port in the future.

Can I use this in my modpack?

Absolutely! Just please credit if you do, but I encourage modpack use :)
