About this project

What does TheBear Heroes Core add?

Description

TheBear Heroes Core is the shared foundation behind TheBear’s superhero mod series. It gives every hero a common structure for progression, abilities, controls, HUD elements, settings, Creative inventory entries, visual standards, and compatibility. Heroes such as Jean Grey and Cyclops can remain completely different in how they play while still feeling like parts of the same mod family.

The Core introduces an independent Mastery profile for every character. Mastery progression is stored separately for each hero, survives death, and does not rely on ordinary Minecraft experience levels. A character’s basic abilities are available from the beginning. As the player gains experience through meaningful gameplay, they unlock new ways to use those abilities instead of simply receiving unlimited damage increases. This keeps progression focused on mastery, control, specialization, and player choice.

Experience is awarded for actions that represent real contribution: defeating enemies, assisting allies, completing raids, defeating major bosses, discovering important structures, completing advancements, supporting teammates, rescuing players, winning balanced PvP encounters, and using a hero’s powers successfully in special situations. Repeating the same target, enemy type, opponent, or event too often gradually reduces the reward, preventing passive farming and ability spam from becoming the fastest way to progress.

At key Mastery levels, players unlock character-specific Augments. Power, Control, and Instinct categories are shared across the hero series, but the actual upgrades are tailored to each character. A player can equip only a limited number of Augments at once, encouraging distinct builds with meaningful strengths and tradeoffs. One build may focus on range and area control, another on cooldown management and precision, while another may prioritize movement, defense, or team support.

The Core also provides a unified five-slot ability system and a single TheBear’s Heroes category in the Minecraft Controls menu. Shared key bindings remain consistent between heroes, while unused slots can remain available for future abilities. The same TheBear’s Heroes heading is used throughout the settings and Creative inventory, where heroes and their associated items are arranged in a predictable order instead of being scattered randomly by registration timing.

Every supported hero uses the same HUD foundation, with consistent spacing, icons, cooldown indicators, key labels, and state colors. Character-specific ability information can still be displayed through the shared system without creating duplicate panels or conflicting overlays. Controlled bodies, equipment, health, and interaction states are handled through the active hero or target body, keeping the interface clear during transformations, possession, combat, and hero switching.

TheBear Heroes Core is designed to let future superhero mods plug into the same ecosystem. New heroes can register their identity, abilities, Mastery rules, Augments, items, sounds, renderers, and progression events without rebuilding the entire framework. This keeps the series coherent as it grows and gives every new hero a familiar foundation while leaving room for completely different powers, mechanics, costumes, and playstyles.
