Zenkai
A Dragon Ball progression and combat overhaul — races, transformations, ki techniques, training, Dragon Balls, and two new dimensions, all opt-in on top of vanilla Minecraft and other mods compatibility. Heavily WIP for now...
Quick answer
Which Zenkai release should I use?
zenkai+mc.1.21.1-0.5.0.jar targets 1.21.1 with NeoForge. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. All 3 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Zenkai required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does zenkai+mc.1.21.1-0.5.0.jar need?
zenkai+mc.1.21.1-0.5.0.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install TerraBlender (NeoForge), Player Animation Library, GeckoLib first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup.
We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Zenkai add?
🐉 Zenkai
A vanilla-friendly Dragon Ball combat and progression overhaul for Minecraft 1.21.1.
Nothing happens until you choose it. Zenkai brings the Dragon Ball universe to Minecraft without replacing the core game. Your character stays completely vanilla (no extra stats, no Ki, no altered combat) until you decide to opt in and take your first steps into training. How far you go, and what you find along the way, is entirely up to you.
🚧 WIP: Zenkai is in active development. Expect bugs, hidden mechanics, and major changes. 📖 New player? The full in-game tutorial lives in the Advancements tab. Open it in-game and let it guide your first steps.
✨ Forge Your Own Path
- Awaken your hidden potential! Choose your lineage from Human, Saiyan, Namekian, Arcosian, or Majin. Each race has its own unique way to grow and progress in the world.
- Master the art of Ki! Channel your energy to fire rapid blasts, shoot piercing beams, unleash massive Ki waves, or charge ultimate attacks to obliterate your enemies.
- Train to push past your limits! You won't start out destroying mountains. Gain power step by step through Shadow Training, Meditation, or by traveling to environments with extreme gravity.
- Achieve legendary transformations! Survive intense battles to unlock mythical states like Ultra Instinct, Ultra Ego, Mystic, or Beast. Watch your aura, model, and hair change dynamically with each new phase.
- Explore the universe and the Afterlife! Build a Space Pod to travel to alien planets, hunt for the Dragon Balls to grant your wishes, or descend into the depths of HFIL (Hell) to face ogres in boiling blood lakes.
- Fight alongside your friends! Team up using the native Party system to train in multiplayer, completely avoiding friendly fire during the most chaotic battles.
- Customize your presence! Use the built-in editor to shape your face (eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth), your skin tone and your hair, and star your favourites so they always come first.
- Hair that feels alive! Pick from a 3D hairstyle library, including 27 hairstyles from DragonMineZ with their Super Saiyan versions, or paste a hair code from DragonMineZ or a Dragon Block C HairSalon string to import your own. Every player sees it, with nothing else to install. Strands are shaded from your hair colour, sway and bend as you move, and gradually reshape and turn golden while you charge a transformation.
⚙️ Multiplayer & Modding (NeoForge)
- Powered by NeoForge & GeckoLib: Built and optimized for Minecraft 1.21.1, ensuring modern compatibility, stable performance, and smooth 3D animations for entities and attacks.
- Built-in Parties: Play with friends using native party invites, kicking, and friendly-fire control.
- Highly Customizable (Datapacks): Build addons without writing Java. Races, forms, skills, attributes, and masters are fully data-driven and can be expanded through JSON datapacks that are dynamically reloadable in-game.
🗺️ Where Zenkai Is Heading
Zenkai is in active development. There is no fixed schedule, but these are the areas the mod keeps growing in:
- Models and Visuals: More dedicated 3D models and character art, facial expressions, and Zenkai's own hairstyle set (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and more, each with its Super Saiyan versions).
- Worlds and Structures: A reworked Planet Namek, villages, and more of the afterlife, including Janemba as a boss in his biome.
- Wishes and Story Mode: Porunga is on the way, along with a story mode that will follow the whole saga, from the original Dragon Ball through Dragon Ball Super.
- Addons & API: More robust data-driven systems and a more stable public API for content creators.
⚖️ Disclaimer & License
Zenkai is a non-commercial fan project and is not affiliated with Toei Animation, Bird Studio, Shueisha, or any Dragon Ball rights holders. Designed to feel like Minecraft first, Dragon Ball second.
