Straight Arrows

Straight Arrows is a lightweight Forge mod that makes archery feel faster, cleaner, and more precise without adding new weapons, enchantments, abilities, keybinds, or progression systems.

The goal is simple: fully draw your bow, aim at your target, and the arrow goes where you're aiming.

Features

  • Fully drawn arrows fly completely straight
    • No gravity
    • No arrow drop
    • Extremely fast projectile speed
    • Improved accuracy toward your aim direction
  • Partial draws still use gravity
    • Quick shots remain less accurate and ballistic
    • Full draws are rewarded with straight-flight arrows
  • Fast arrows
    • Player-fired arrows travel at approximately 5× their normal speed
    • Projectile damage is compensated so the increased velocity does not simply multiply arrow damage
  • Works with vanilla bows and arrows
  • Supports many modded bows and arrows that use Minecraft's standard AbstractArrow projectile system
  • Crossbows also benefit from straight projectile flight

Built for Compatibility

Straight Arrows does not modify:

  • Player animations
  • First-person rendering
  • Arm rendering
  • Bow animations
  • Mouse input
  • Keybinds
  • Combat animations
  • Player models

Because of this, it is designed to work alongside mods such as:

  • Better Combat
  • Epic Fight
  • Punchy
  • Player Animator
  • First Person Model
  • Bow animation mods
  • Weapon and armor mods

Straight Arrows only changes the behavior of player-fired arrow projectiles.

No Extra Content

There are:

  • No enchantments
  • No new bows
  • No new arrows
  • No skills
  • No keybinds
  • No menus
  • No complicated progression

Install it and play.

Requirements

Minecraft: 1.20.1
Mod Loader: Forge

Mod Compatibility

Most modded arrows that extend Minecraft's standard AbstractArrow system should work automatically.

Mods that use completely custom projectile entities may require additional compatibility.
