About this project

What does Peon add?

Peon — Idle Mining, built inside Minecraft

Peon is an idle mining game that runs in Minecraft instead of behind a menu. You get a plot, a rock face, and a pickaxe. Everything else you build.

Swing first, automate later

You start with nothing automated. You walk up to the wall and you hit it.

  • Every hit chains. Keep swinging and the pitch climbs a semitone per strike. Stop for two seconds and the combo is gone.
  • Find the fault. A glowing marker sits somewhere on the rock face. Hit it for quadruple pay, and it immediately moves somewhere else — so you're never just holding left-click at a wall, you're hunting.
  • At twelve strikes the seam collapses and the whole vein goes at once.

Only once you've earned it by hand do you buy an elevator, a warehouse, and your first miner — and watch someone else do the job you were doing. That handover is the whole point of the genre, and it's why the first minute matters more than the tenth hour.

Your plot, and everyone else's

One shared world, one square each, a path between them. No private dimensions, no teleporting to visit — you walk. Your paving, your rock face, and how far your mine has grown are visible to anyone passing by, and that's deliberate: the only cosmetic in the game is the floor of your plot, because it's the only one other people can see.

What's in it

  • 8 shafts, each opening a richer section of wall and a deeper gallery
  • Player pickaxe from wood to netherite — the material changes in your hand
  • A vendor with a shop: pickaxes, dynamite, nitro, hourglasses, a daily kit
  • Prestige, announced to the whole server when someone hits it
  • Chat translated per player, automatically, from your Minecraft language — a self-hosted engine, so it never hits a quota
  • A leaderboard podium you walk past every time you log in

Language

The server speaks yours. Chat is translated into each player's own language based on their client setting — nothing to configure. /langue opens a flag picker if you'd rather choose.

Before you install

This is the client mod for the Peon server, not a standalone mod. It replaces the Minecraft main menu with Peon's own, and the game itself lives on the server — installing it alone won't give you a singleplayer idle miner.
