About this project
What does We're Panning For Diamonds! add?
We're Panning For Diamonds! allows you to craft a sifter, which can be used to turn basic blocks (like stone, dirt, sand, gravel, netherrack, etc) into small quantaties of valuable resources (like iron, copper, coal, and even diamonds and netherite). The sifter works like a powerless furnace, taking 15 seconds to sift each item placed into it's input slot, and storing up to 9 stacks of sifted items.
Description -
The sifter is a furnace-like block that can be crafted from wood planks, a brush, and an empty bucket. Once crafted, it can be placed down and used to sift blocks & items at a rate of 1 item every 15 seconds. Some examples of things you can sift and their results are:
– Brick blocks made from actual bricks can be sifted back into a few bricks (and Red Nether Bricks can even give you nether wart now and again!)
– Stone and Deepslate (both cobbled and not) can be sifted into some of the ores and valuables you find in those layers
– Grasses and leaves can be sifted into small natural things like sticks and seeds.
– Most nautrally found stone-like blocks can be sifted into a few items found in their layer of the ground.
– Sand, Gravel, Dirt, and Clay all have a chance of giving a bit of gold (and a few other things).
– Netherrack and Basalt can give things like nether quartz, and even trace amounts of ancient debris (if making netherite renewable seems too overpowered, there is a gamerule that allows you to disable it)
Once you aquire a sifter, you can decide to use some iron, some stone, and a hopper to upgrade it into a mineral sifter, which can process mineral-based blocks and items at a rate of 1 item every 10 seconds. The mineral sifter is exactly the same in all other ways, however, so it's basically the blast furnace of sifters.
FAQ -
Q: There are so many features in this mod, I'm not sure what all it does. Is there some place where I can view all the features?
A: I am currently working on a wiki for this mod (mostly since it takes a while to show all of the items the sifter supports), which you can find here or in the links section for this mod. Once finished, it will contain information pertaining to the recipes for the sifter, all the items and their uses, and many more things.
Q: Can you port to x version?
A: Well, being the selfish caring mod creator I am, I'm trying to port to as many version as possible. However, if you see the tags, I do indeed use Mcreator. This means that I am limited to the versions Mcreator provides. I'm trying to get as many versions as possible, but I can't get that many. I'm sorry.
Q: Can you port to Fabric?
A: Normally, I'd write something here along the lines of 'don't expect it', but I have been able to acquire a fabric generator for my mods. The only problem for this mod is that the generator doesn't support some of the neccesary code for this to work, so I'll only be able to support Fabric if the generator gets updated, and I have no control over that. If the generator does end up supporting the code I need it too, this mod would get ported to Fabric 26.1.2 in addition to the other versions supported.
TL;DR: If my Fabric generator gets updated, I might be able to support Fabric 26.1.2, but there's no guarentee that will happen soon / ever.
Q: Can I use this in my modpack?
A: Free advertising, so please do!
Q: Why do you have a FAQ for such a small and horrible generally simple mod?
A: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Enjoy!
