About this project

What does Not Enough Totems add?

One Totem of Undying is never enough. Not Enough Totems adds 13 new totems, all crafted from the regular one. Every one of them still does what a vanilla totem does — cheats death, clears your effects and gives Regeneration, Absorption and Fire Resistance — and then adds its own twist: fights back, teleports you home, freezes everything around you, or just keeps you alive a little longer.

How it works

  • Craft any new totem from a regular Totem of Undying plus a few ingredients. Recipes show up in the recipe book as soon as you have a totem in your inventory.
  • Hold it in either hand, like the vanilla one. When it saves you, the pop-up shows the totem you actually used.
  • All totems sit next to the vanilla one in the Combat creative tab, and every tooltip tells you what the totem does.

The totems

All totems

Fiery Totem — Totem + 4 Blaze Powder (cross) Fire Resistance for 5 minutes. The totem itself does not burn in lava, so it survives the drop with you.

Totem of the Depths — Nautilus Shell, Totem, Nautilus Shell (in a row) Water Breathing and Night Vision for 5 minutes, Dolphin's Grace for 2.

Runner's Totem — Totem + Feather + Sugar (shapeless) Speed III and Slow Falling for 30 s, Invisibility for 20 s. Whatever almost killed you, it won't catch you.

Wanderer's Totem — Totem + 4 Chorus Fruit (cross) Teleports you to a random spot up to 32 blocks away, with Slow Falling for 20 s.

Sturdy Totem — Totem + Netherite Ingot (shapeless) Resistance III for 30 s and Absorption IV for a full minute.

Totem of Life — Totem + 4 Golden Apples (cross) Full health and full hunger instantly, then Regeneration III for 30 s.

War Horn Totem — Totem + Goat Horn + Blaze Powder (shapeless) Strength II, Haste II and Speed for 45 s. Time to settle the score.

Totem of Vengeance — Totem + 4 Gunpowder (cross) A wind burst around you: every creature within 6 blocks takes damage and is thrown back (strongest at the center, fading towards the edge). Blocks are untouched. You get Resistance II for 10 s.

Totem of Returning — Compass above, Lodestone below, 6 Ender Pearls around Teleports you to your bed or charged respawn anchor (without spending a charge), from any dimension. No bed? World spawn it is.

Storm Totem — Lightning Rod above, 2 Copper Blocks at the sides, Trident below Lightning strikes every creature within 5 blocks: 4 hearts of damage and a few seconds of burning. The bolts are for show only — no fires, no charged creepers, no zombified piglins. Resistance II for 10 s for you.

Echo Totem — Totem + 4 Echo Shards (cross) Two charges. The first use leaves a Cracked Echo Totem in your hand, which works as a regular totem one more time.

Mirror Totem — 2 Diamonds at the sides, 2 Amethyst Shards above and below The blow that would have killed you is thrown back at the attacker twice as hard (at least 5 hearts), plus Weakness II and Glowing for 20 s. Works on shooters too. Lava, falls and the void have nobody to reflect at.

Stasis Totem — Clock above, 3 Blue Ice around Everything within 8 blocks freezes in place for 8 seconds (Slowness VII, Weakness II, Mining Fatigue III), and you get Speed II to make the most of it. Archers can still shoot, so don't just stand there.

Vengeance, Storm and Stasis never hit you, your pets, your team mates or armor stands.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 26.2
  • Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer
  • Fabric API
  • Needed on both the client and the server.

Languages: English and Russian.

For pack and datapack makers

Every recipe is a plain JSON recipe and can be changed or removed with a datapack. The custom death effects (not-enough-totems:shockwave, lightning_strike, return_home, restore_totem, mirror, stasis) are regular consume effects, so you can build your own totems out of them with the vanilla minecraft:death_protection component.
