About this project

What does Spawnutils add?

Spawn Utils

A lightweight Fabric server mod that bundles the handful of quality-of-life commands almost every survival server ends up needing: a configurable spawn point, random teleport, per-player homes with a visual GUI, and an in-game rules book. No client-side install required — it's server-side only.

Features

Spawn Set a server spawn point and let players teleport back to it any time. Falls back to the world's vanilla spawn if none has been set yet.

Random Teleport (RTP) Drops a player at a random, safe location within a configurable radius — retries automatically if it rolls a void, lava, or out-of-bounds spot.

Homes Players can set, delete, rename, and teleport to any number of named homes. /home with no arguments opens a chest-style GUI showing every home as a clickable item, with the home's name and coordinates shown on hover. Each home's icon is customizable per-home.

Rules Book Hands the player a written book of server rules and automatically opens it for them — a real copy stays in their inventory so they can reread it later.

Commands

Command Who Description
/spawn Everyone Teleport to the server spawn point
/spawnset Admin Set spawn to your current location
/rtp Everyone Teleport to a random safe location
/sethome [name] Everyone Save your current position as a home (defaults to home)
/home Everyone Open a GUI listing all your homes
/home <name> Everyone Teleport directly to a named home
/delhome <name> Everyone Delete a home
/renamehome <old> <new> Everyone Rename a home, keeping its location and icon
/homeicon <name> <item> Everyone Set the item shown for a home in the GUI
/rules Everyone Open the server rules book

/spawnset requires the "gamemaster" permission level (Fabric's equivalent of the classic op level 2 — the same level needed for /gamemode or /give). Every other command is open to all players.

Configuration

All data — the spawn point, RTP radius, player homes, and rules text — is stored in config/spawnutils.json, created automatically on first run. Edit it directly (with the server stopped) to change the rules text or RTP bounds; homes and spawn are also editable there if needed, though the in-game commands are the normal way to manage them.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.11
  • Fabric Loader ≥ 0.18.0
  • Fabric API
  • Java 21+
