About this project

What does AE2 Pattern Disk add?

AE2 Pattern Disk

An addon for Applied Energistics 2 that keeps your encoded patterns on disks instead of filling a pattern provider's nine slots — plus a transferer to fill those disks, a parallel assembler to run the jobs, and a batch assembler for bulk crafting.

Requires Applied Energistics 2 (19.0.0 or newer) on NeoForge 1.21.1.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.21.1
Mod loader NeoForge 21.1.241 or newer (21.1.x)
Required dependency Applied Energistics 2 19.0.0 or newer
Java 21 (supplied by the mod loader)

Installation

  1. Install NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1.
  2. Put this jar and Applied Energistics 2 into your mods folder.

Features

Pattern Disks

Store encoded AE2 patterns on a single disk. A disk starts untyped; the first pattern you insert decides its type, and it holds one type at a time.

Disk Encoded patterns
1k 4
4k 16
16k 64
64k 256
256k 1024

The bigger the tier, the more item data the disk itself carries: keep very large disks in plain storage and mind menu/network sync when you use them, as the top tiers are meant as archival storage rather than everyday working disks.

ME Pattern Disk Provider

A pattern provider backed by physical pattern disks: insert disks and it exposes their patterns to ME autocrafting. It only supplies jobs (it never crafts itself) and accepts finished products back through its return inventory.

It comes in two forms that share one implementation — an in-world block, and a panel part that attaches to a cable like AE2's own cable pattern provider. The panel keeps the same nine disk slots and the same return inventory, just in a thinner footprint, and the two forms convert into each other in the crafting grid (shapeless, 1:1 in both directions).

ME Pattern Transferer

Moves patterns between AE2 blank patterns and pattern disks. Input slots take encoded patterns or full disks, destination slots hold the target disks, and blank patterns produced by extraction go back into the ME network. Supports speed cards.

Efficient Molecular Assembler

A parallel molecular assembler with eight independent threads, each owning its own 3×3 grid, output slot and progress bar. One GUI page per thread (the page layout follows ExtendedAE's extension molecular assembler), with vertical progress on the selected page only. Takes up to five AE2 Speed Cards (multipliers 1.0× / 1.3× / 1.7× / 2.0× / 2.5× / 5.0×).

Any page can also hold a pattern of its own: insert an encoded crafting (or smithing-table / stonecutting) pattern and that page becomes self-executing, pulling its inputs from the network and pushing products plus container remainders to adjacent inventories or back into the network. A page running its own pattern stops accepting pushed jobs, so the machine keeps taking jobs as long as at least one page is idle.

Batch Assembler

Buffers everything the crafting CPUs push into nine private storage cell slots and runs it only once the input material has actually stopped arriving — 40 ticks (standard) or 10 ticks (fast) after the last accepted push. A started batch runs to the end of the queue without a per-tick ceiling. Handles crafting-table, smithing-table and stonecutting recipes.

Outputs (including container remainders) return to the network smoothly over about 20 ticks; if the network cannot take them they stay queued and are retried. The storage cells inside it are private to the machine and locked while work is buffered — breaking the block or pressing cancel returns the buffer to the network. Up to four Speed Cards add analysis threads (2 / 4 / 8 / 16), while every cell and network access stays on the server thread.

ME Pattern Disk Encoding Terminal

A cable-attached encoding terminal that writes patterns straight onto pattern disks: it lists every pattern disk across its ME network and encodes crafting, processing, smithing-table and stonecutting patterns in place.

Known behaviour

  • The batch assembler does not chain recipes: it runs the batch the crafting CPUs pushed, and outputs go back to the network, where the CPU schedules whatever follows.
  • Both assemblers only run patterns a molecular assembler can execute — crafting table, smithing table and stonecutting. Processing patterns are rejected.

Recipes

All recipes are listed in the README and are visible in JEI/EMI.
