About this project
What does Leveling Up: StarsReforged add?
Leveling Up
Leveling Up adds an RPG-style progression system to Minecraft equipment.
Weapons, tools and armor can gain experience, level up, improve their quality and become stronger over time.
The goal is to make equipment feel more rewarding without drastically changing Minecraft's normal progression.
Features
- Individual leveling for weapons, tools and armor
- Equipment gains XP through normal gameplay (mining, fighting, etc.)
- Every item has its own Quality value
- Quality, stars and classes affect how powerful an item's level bonuses are
- Custom sharpening system for improving item quality
- Different sharpening stone tiers with different chances and limits
- Custom tooltips displaying:
- Quality
- Level
- Current XP
- XP required for the next level
- Supports vanilla equipment
- Designed with modded weapons, tools and armor compatibility in mind
Equipment Progression
Every supported item receives its own progression data.
As you use your equipment, it gains experience and levels up. The XP obtained is dynamically calculated, depending on the damage/stats/hardness of the DamageSource/Mob/Block.
Higher levels provide increasing bonuses depending on the type of equipment:
- Weapons can gain additional damage
- Tools can gain mining efficiency
- Armor can gain additional armor and toughness

The strength of these bonuses is also affected by the item's Quality, Stars and Class.

Quality & Sharpening
Quality represents the condition and potential of an item.

Equipment starts with a randomized Quality value (1–25) and can later be improved using Sharpening Stones.
Higher-tier sharpening stones offer better chances and allow equipment to reach higher Quality values.

Classes
Once a weapon or piece of armor reaches level 10, it can gain a randomly chosen class.
Armor Classes:
- Survivor
- Bastion
- Guardian

Weapon Classes:
- Assassin
- Duelist
- Berserker
- Veteran
- Tank

Stars
If your weapon is stuck at its maximum level, combine it with a catalyst (Nether Star, Echo Shard or Enchanted Golden Apple).

Each star tier gives 10% extra level bonuses and 5 more levels to keep grinding, as well as reducing the XP needed to increase levels.
- 5 stars max
- Level 50 max

Sharpening Stones
Sharpening Stones have multiple progression tiers. Sharpening is not guaranteed to succeed.
Better stones:
- Have better improvement chances
- Can provide larger Quality increases
- Allow equipment to reach higher Quality limits
- Require progressively more advanced materials to craft

Compatibility
Leveling Up is designed to work with both vanilla and modded equipment. It pairs well with Apotheosis (or Apothic Attributes).
Supported equipment types currently include:
- Swords
- Axes
- Pickaxes
- Shovels
- Helmets
- Chestplates
- Leggings
- Boots
Compatibility with heavily customized equipment from other mods may vary.

Current Status
The mod is currently under development.
More progression mechanics, balancing changes, sharpening tiers and compatibility improvements may be added in future versions.
Feedback and bug reports are welcome.
