About this project

What does BoneHitboxLib add?

BoneHitboxLib

Make hits and collisions follow the model.

BoneHitboxLib gives compatible mods hitboxes that follow individual model parts as they move and rotate. It supports more detailed combat, animated collisions, and block shapes that better match their models.

What can it bring to your game?

  • Hits on individual body parts
Compatible mods can distinguish between hits to different parts of a creature, allowing separate part health and different reactions depending on where an attack lands.
  • Collisions that follow animations
Supported creatures can use moving, rotating collision shapes for their body parts and held items.
  • Standing on moving creatures
Compatible entities can support and carry other entities, making features such as rideable body surfaces possible.
  • Model-shaped blocks
Supports angled collision surfaces and connected structures spanning multiple block spaces. Model-based collision for supported vanilla slanted blocks is enabled by default.
  • Actions timed to animations
Optional GeckoLib integration lets compatible mods connect attacks and other actions to specific moments in an animation.

The available creature and combat features depend on the mods using this library. BoneHitboxLib does not add its own mobs, weapons, or automatic weak-point damage to every creature.

Installation

  1. Download the file matching your Minecraft version and mod loader.
  2. Place it in your mods folder. For multiplayer, use matching builds on the client and server.
  3. On Fabric, also install Fabric API and Forge Config API Port.
  4. Install GeckoLib if a mod in your pack requires its animation features.

Available for:

  • 1.20.1: Fabric and Forge
  • 1.21.1, 26.1.2, and 26.2: Fabric and NeoForge

Configuration

Server owners and modpack creators can choose which blocks use model-based collision through allowlists and denylists. A broader collision mode is also available and is disabled by default.

Collision shapes use packaged model geometry. Changing a client resource pack does not automatically change server collision.
