About this project

What does KeyShift add?

KeyShift lets you keep multiple keybinding profiles — complete control layouts for combat, building, exploration, or any playstyle — and switch between them instantly, in-gam e, with a single hotkey. No restart, no re-doing your Controls screen every time.

✨Features:

🔄 Instant profile switching

  • Switch with per-profile hotkeys, or cycle with Next/Previous Profile hotkeys (wraps around)
  • Hotkeys support keyboard keys, mouse buttons (including side buttons 4/5), and Ctrl / Shift / Alt combos
  • Changes apply immediately no restart, no menu digging
  • On-screen notification + optional sound confirm every switch

🧩 Smart inheritance system

  • Your existing controls are captured as the Default profile the first time the mod runs — installing KeyShift changes nothing
  • Other profiles store only their differences from Default; everything else is inherited. Fix a binding once in Default and every profile follows automatically
  • Changes made in vanilla's Controls screen are absorbed into the active profile — nothing gets lost

⌨️ Full keybinding editor

  • Edit every binding in the game vanilla and from all installed mods (bindings are discovered dynamically, nothing is hardcoded)
  • Instant case-insensitive search, category grouping, and clear markers showing exactly what each profile overrides
  • Per binding reset and one click Reset All
  • Save Layout button: snapshot your current controls into a new named profile at any time
  • Overrides for mods you later uninstall are preserved and reactivate if the mod returns

🛡️ Safe & lightweight

  • 100% client-side works in singleplayer and on any server
  • One config file (config/keyshift.json); corrupt configs are backed up and regenerated instead of crashing
  • No macros, no automation, no input recording, no telemetry it only manages which keys map to which game actions

📖 Quick start

  1. Bind Open KeyShift in Options → Controls (KeyShift category), or use the Mod Menu config button
  2. Create a profile → Edit Keybindings → change what you want
  3. Give it a Hotkey → press it in-game → done

📋 Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.21.11 · Fabric Loader 0.19.0+ · Fabric API (required)
  • Java 21
  • Mod Menu (optional, adds a config button)
