About this project
What does TRACE - the Relic add?
TRACE
The path forgets. The Relic does not — for a while.
TRACE is a relic you find, not a tool you bake. Point it at a block within 4 — nothing on top — and it keeps a memory of that spot, planting a beacon: a thin pole of intense blue light. Anyone can see it. You can walk to it. Sneak and use it to open the diary. You can still Return if you would rather be pulled back.
It is not a bed. It is not a map. It is not ANCHOR. ANCHOR plants one staff and holds your respawn. TRACE marks a short path of lights that fade. Eight at most. Three Minecraft days each.
Break the pole, and that memory is gone. Delete or Erase in the diary, or wait for the three days: the light goes with it. Other players can see the beacons. Other players can break them.
Return does not snap you instantly. For three seconds the path pulls; you still walk. Take a hit and the pull breaks — no charge spent. Same dimension only. Elytra and mounts refuse the return.
Recording is all or nothing. If there is no room for the light, the Relic remembers nothing and spends nothing.
How to use it
- Use — point at a block within 4. The space above must be empty. Plants a blue beacon. Costs 2 charge. Too close to another memory, and it refuses.
- Sneak + use — open the diary. Left: the list. Return, Delete, Erase (Erase asks once). Right: Infuse and your inventory.
- Walk — follow the lights. You do not have to Return.
- Break a beacon — that memory leaves the Relic. No charge refund.
- Return — pick a row, click. The list closes. Action bar: the path is pulling you back. Then you stand where that memory was, if the block is still safe.
Creative skips the fuel cost for record and return. Infuse still drinks materials.
Charge
Maximum 100. Recording costs 2. Returning costs 4, plus extra for distance (every 250 blocks), capped at 24.
Infuse in the diary:
| Offering | Charge |
|---|---|
| Lapis lazuli | +1 |
| Amethyst shard | +2 |
| Emerald | +5 |
| Diamond | +12 |
If the Relic is almost full, it drinks only what fits. A diamond that cannot enter stays in the slot.
Where it drops
Rare. About 4% per matching chest:
- Buried treasure
- Shipwreck map chests
- Stronghold libraries
- Desert pyramids
- Large ocean ruins
No recipe. Creative inventory still has it for testing.
Numbers (lifetime, costs, fuel, channel length) live in the server config.
What it is not
No crafting. No cross-dimension return in this release. No sharing a journey between players. No renaming in the GUI yet. Not a respawn staff — that is ANCHOR.
Compatibility
- Minecraft: 1.21.1
- Mod loader: NeoForge
- Client & Server
- Multiplayer supported
- Standalone — no other mod required
Italiano
TRACE è una Relic che si trova, non si crafta. Uso: punta un blocco entro 4, sopra libero, e piazza un faro di luce blu. Puoi raggiungerlo camminando, o usare Ritorna. Shift+uso apre The Recorded Path. Se rompi il palo, quella memoria sparisce dalla Relic. Cancella, Azzera e la scadenza di tre giorni spengono il faro. Fino a 8 luci. Gli altri le vedono e possono romperle. Non è ANCHOR: niente respawn, solo un sentiero visibile. Il ritorno dura 3 secondi; un colpo lo interrompe senza consumare. Stessa dimensione. Carica 100; record 2; ritorno da 4 in su. Loot raro: tesoro sepolto, mappa del naufragio, biblioteca del stronghold, piramide, rovine oceaniche grandi.
