About this project
What does AboutFace EasyPlace add?
About Face Easy Place
A Litematica plugin — Easy Place, with every block facing the right way on a vanilla server.
Requires: Fabric Loader 0.19.3+, Fabric API, Fabric Language Kotlin, and Litematica + MaLiLib 0.28.0+. Client-side only — no server mod or plugin (Carpet/Servux) needed.
The problem
Without Carpet or Servux, a vanilla server decides a block's orientation from your rotation, the face you clicked, and the point you clicked — not from the schematic. So Easy Place placements come out facing whichever way you happened to be standing: stairs misaligned, pistons pointed at you, hoppers feeding the wrong way, repeaters stuck on one tick, comparators that never subtract, every door shut.
What this mod does
It works out the look direction and click that make the vanilla server's own placement rules produce the block your schematic actually asks for, claims them for that one placement, and immediately restores your true aim. Your camera never visibly moves.
Handles:
- Facing, axis, half, hinge and rotation — stairs, slabs, logs, hoppers, furnaces, chests, doors, trapdoors, fence gates, signs, banners, skulls, lanterns, end rods, lightning rods, rails
- Pistons, observers, dispensers, droppers, crafters and barrels (head-direction blocks)
- Post-placement state: repeater delay, comparator mode, redstone dust dot/cross, note block pitch, daylight detector inversion, levers, and open doors/trapdoors/gates
- Hanging signs, including the chained style
- Anything that can't be placed correctly is skipped rather than placed wrong, and left for Litematica to catch on a later pass
⚠️ Anti-cheat warning
To get correct orientation, the mod briefly tells the server you're looking somewhere you're not, and sends the clicks needed to set a repeater or open a door right after placing it. Every packet sent is one a real player could send, and vanilla accepts all of them — but a server running anti-cheat may flag, kick, or ban for the rotation/click pattern. Check a server's rules before using this there.
Installing
Drop the jar into .minecraft/mods alongside:
- Fabric Loader 0.19.3+
- Fabric API
- Fabric Language Kotlin
- Litematica + MaLiLib 0.28.0+ — required
- Mod Menu — optional, for the settings screen
In Litematica's settings, leave easyPlaceProtocolVersion on Auto.
Tweakeroo users: turn off Accurate Block Placement while Easy Placing — it sends its own rotation with every placement, which fights this mod's on a vanilla server. The mod warns you once if it notices.
Using it
There's nothing to switch on. The mod is active exactly when Easy Place is, and only ever touches blocks the schematic asks for. It works the same in single player as on a vanilla server. On servers running Carpet or Servux, Litematica's own protocol already carries orientation, so the mod steps back — except for post-placement state (repeaters, comparators, dust, doors), which it still sets.
License and origin
MIT. Written from scratch — no code from Litematica, Tweakeroo, or any other project. A companion to About Face, built on the same idea: present the server with the inputs that produce the answer you want, rather than argue with the answer it gives.
Litematica is by masa, maintained for modern versions by Sakura-Ryoko. This mod is a plugin for their work, not a replacement for it.
