Smooth Quest Gacha smooth_quest_gacha-1.0-1.20.1.jar targets 1.20.1 with Fabric. The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both. All 5 required mods have matching files.
Where it goes
Is Smooth Quest Gacha required on the client, server, or both?
The project page does not say whether this file belongs on the client, dedicated server, or both.
The source does not explicitly classify this release as client-only or server-only.
What else does Smooth Quest Gacha smooth_quest_gacha-1.0-1.20.1.jar need?
smooth_quest_gacha-1.0-1.20.1.jar. Change the file and its required mods may change too.
Install FTB Quests (Fabric), Fabric API, Architectury API, FTB Library (Fabric) and 1 more first. We found matching files for this game-version and loader setup. 13 come through another mod in the chain.
13 extra mods were pulled in by other dependencies. Indented rows show who needs each one. We only count dependency files that match this setup. A file for another loader does not fill the gap.

About this project
What does Smooth Quest Gacha add?
Smooth Quest Gacha
Smooth Quest Gacha is a Fabric addon for FTB Quests that turns ordinary quest rewards into configurable gacha rolls with weighted reward pools, multi-rolls, pachinko-style animations, and an appropriately unnecessary amount of confetti.
Instead of giving players a fixed reward, create your own reward pools, assign item weights and rarities, choose how many times a quest should roll, and let the machine decide their fate.
Is it gambling?
It's Minecraft. There is no money involved. Probably.
Features
- Custom Smooth Gacha reward type for FTB Quests
- Fully configurable reward pools
- Multiple named pools for different quests
- Weighted random reward system
- Configurable item amounts
- 1--64 rolls per quest reward
- Up to 8 rolls displayed at once
- Additional pages for larger multi-rolls
- Pachinko / slot-machine-style rolling animation
- Reel animation uses items from the actual selected reward pool
- Smooth high-speed rolling that gradually slows down
- Reels accurately land on the reward selected by the server
- Special Legendary celebration with confetti
- Server-authoritative reward selection
- Lightweight client-side animations
- Designed with modpacks in mind
Rarities
Smooth Quest Gacha currently supports five rarity levels:
Rarity Tier
Common 1 Uncommon 2 Rare 3 Epic 4 Legendary 5
And yes, Legendary has confetti.
It was necessary.
Reward Pools
Reward pools are configured in:
config/smooth_quest_gacha/gacha_pools.json
You can create as many pools as you want.
For example:
default
food
weapons
ingots
music_discs
boss
random
definitely_not_gambling
Each FTB Quest can then use a different pool.
Configuration Example
{
"pools": {
"boss": {
"entries": [
{
"item": "minecraft:diamond",
"count": 8,
"rarity": "RARE",
"weight": 30
},
{
"item": "minecraft:netherite_ingot",
"count": 1,
"rarity": "EPIC",
"weight": 5
},
{
"item": "minecraft:nether_star",
"count": 1,
"rarity": "LEGENDARY",
"weight": 1
}
]
}
}
}
Each reward entry supports:
item- Minecraft item IDcount- Amount given to the playerrarity-COMMON,UNCOMMON,RARE,EPIC, orLEGENDARYweight- Relative probability of the item being selected
Higher weights mean higher chances.
So yes, this is completely valid:
{
"item": "minecraft:dirt",
"count": 1,
"rarity": "COMMON",
"weight": 9999
}
Your players may have questions.
Multi-Roll
Each Smooth Gacha reward can perform between 1 and 64 rolls.
A maximum of 8 rewards are displayed on the screen at once.
Larger pulls automatically continue onto another page.
1 roll -> 1
8 rolls -> 8
10 rolls -> 8 + 2
24 rolls -> 8 + 8 + 8
64 rolls -> 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8
Or, more accurately:
64 rolls -> 8 pages of questionable life choices
All rewards are determined by the server and granted to the player.
The animation does not determine your reward.
No amount of staring intensely at the Diamond will change the result.
Pachinko Animation
Rewards aren't simply thrown into your inventory without ceremony.
Smooth Quest Gacha includes a pachinko / slot-machine-inspired animation.
The reels:
- Start fast
- Cycle through items from the selected reward pool
- Gradually slow down
- Approach the selected reward
- Stop directly on the actual result
The items shown during the animation come from the pool configured for that quest.
If your pool contains Iron, Gold, Diamond, and Emerald, then those are the items you'll see spinning through the machine.
No random Cobblestone appearing from another dimension.
Legendary Rewards
Rolling a Legendary reward triggers a special celebration.
Expect:
- Golden flash
- Legendary announcement
- Confetti cannons
- Falling confetti
- Absolutely unnecessary levels of celebration
You got the 1% drop.
You deserve approximately three seconds of visual noise.
FTB Quests Integration
When editing a quest, add a reward and select Smooth Gacha.
From there you can configure:
- Gacha Pool
- Rolls
The pool selector reads the available pools from your configuration.
This makes it possible to have completely different gachas for different types of quests.
For example:
Mining Quest -> ores_and_gems
Food Quest -> food
Boss Quest -> boss
Music Quest -> music_discs
Chaos Quest -> random
Requirements
Smooth Quest Gacha currently requires:
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Fabric Loader
- Fabric API
- FTB Quests
- FTB Library
- FTB Teams
This mod is an addon for FTB Quests and is not intended to replace FTB Quests itself.
Client & Server
Smooth Quest Gacha should be installed on both the client and server.
Reward selection and item distribution are handled server-side.
Animations, reels, and confetti are handled client-side.
The server decides whether you got the Nether Star.
The client decides how dramatically to celebrate it.
Performance
Smooth Quest Gacha does not run a heavy continuous system during normal gameplay.
Most of the visual work only happens while the gacha screen is open.
The animation system includes optimized reel rendering and lightweight client-side confetti physics.
So if your 500-mod modpack is running at 17 FPS...
it's probably not the confetti.
Probably.
Made for Modpacks
Smooth Quest Gacha was originally created for the Smooth Odyssey modpack, but the reward system is designed to be configurable and reusable by other modpack creators.
Create progression gachas.
Create boss loot gachas.
Create food gachas.
Create a pool containing 32 completely unrelated items.
Give someone 64 potatoes.
Game design is a form of self-expression.
