About this project

What does PlayerChatPingsClient add?

PlayerChatPing (client)

Someone writes your name in chat and you scroll right past it. Happens to everyone. This makes it impossible to miss.

Client-side, works on any server. No server plugin needed, nothing gets sent anywhere.

What you get 🔔

  • Your name lights up yellow in chat whenever someone writes it, @You or just You
  • A ping sound (pick any sound you like)
  • A pop-up: subtitle by default, or title, action bar, both, or none
  • Nicknames: add extra names so @Frosty pings you too
  • Add your own prefixes (!, #, whatever your server uses)
  • Smart enough not to ping you for your own messages, your own join/death messages, or your name in the sender part of a line
  • Cooldown so chat spam can't ping you 20 times a second

Setting the sound 🔊

Three ways, pick what you like:

  1. In game: /chatping sound block.note_block.pling — it plays it once so you know it's right. /chatping sound volume 0.5, /chatping sound pitch 1.5 to fine-tune, /chatping sound test to preview.
  2. Config file: config/playerchatping-client.json, then /chatping reload.
  3. Resource pack sounds work too, just use their id.

Some nice ones: entity.experience_orb.pickup (default), block.note_block.pling, block.note_block.bell, entity.player.levelup, block.bell.use, entity.arrow.hit_player, ui.button.click.

Commands

/chatping toggle
/chatping sound <id> | volume <v> | pitch <p> | on | off | test
/chatping popup <title|subtitle|both|actionbar|none>
/chatping color <&e|yellow|#ffaa00> [bold]
/chatping prefix add|remove|list <prefix>
/chatping name add|remove|list <nickname>
/chatping requireprefix [on|off]
/chatping cooldown <seconds>
/chatping test
/chatping info

/pcp works as a short alias.

Downloads 📦

  • Forge 26.2
  • Forge 1.21.x (1.21.8+, built on 1.21.11)

Goes well with

The PlayerChatPing server plugin. If a server runs it you'll get the server-side ping too; turn one of them off with /chatping toggle if you don't want both.
