About this project

What does Nookworks add?

Nookworks: a cottage at dusk, café lights strung on Thin Rope

Nookworks fills the corners of your base. Climb a rope, string café lights between fence posts, hang posters drawn by the mod's author, keep everything in barrels that upgrade where they stand, and cook rice, udon and karaage. Behind it sits a modest workshop of machines - and, new in 0.4.0, one door to every dimension.

NeoForge 26.2 · no other mods needed · JEI and Jade optional · English, 日本語, 简体中文 · free to use in modpacks · Player guide

New in 0.4.0

The Dock-a-Daemon Door: shut, its porthole shows the Nether; open, the doorway does

  • Dock-a-Daemon Door: one door to every dimension you have been to. Its porthole shows where it opens.
  • The If: the overworld again from another seed - vanilla terrain, nothing else - for a fresh place to mine or build. Throw a die at its mirror six times to pick which world.
  • Barter Terminal: a sealed room where piglins barter for your gold outside the Nether.
  • Nook Dowsing Rod: points the way to the nearest cinnabar, up to 6,400 blocks off.
  • The machines can be heard at work.

Rope and café lights

Let a rope down from the ceiling and climb it; add to it from the bottom. Thin Rope strings from post to post - hang bottles, flowers and Filament Bulbs on it, or fish to dry in the sun.

Posters and labels

55 posters, from 1x1 to 4x4, drawn by the mod's author and printed on the Printing Press, which also prints labels for your chests and barrels. A datapack can add more posters.

A kitchen

Rice from the paddy, udon from the Noodle Maker, bread that rises on a tray as you watch, karaage and tonkatsu from the Iron Pot, pickles from the Nukadoko - and a Range Hood to carry the smoke away.

The kitchen: an Iron Pot on the fire under a Range Hood, café lights along the beam

Storage Barrels

Five tiers, up to 135 slots of 1,024 stacks each. They sort at a click and upgrade where they stand, everything kept. Sorters with gears, and labels, keep a storage room in order.

Tree felling and vein mining

Break a log with an axe and the tree comes down; mine an ore and its vein follows. Sneak for a single block. Both step aside when FTB Ultimine or a mod like it is installed.

An oak felled by cutting one log: the logs come down at once and the leaves fall away

A modest workshop

Generators on coal, oil or biodiesel, a Crusher and a Sifter, an Electric Furnace, pumps and pipes, and a mercury chain that ends in brass, caustic soda, paper and a metal past netherite. All on Forge Energy, so other mods' cables connect.

Liquid experience

Stand on an Absorption Pad to drain your levels into a tank, run them through pipes that glow green, and pour them back out - or bottle them for Bottles o' Enchanting.

And small, odd things

Dark Matter that brings night at noon. Mob Bottles that carry a villager with its trades. Dice and a Nested Timer for redstone. A Lode Pearl that takes you home from anywhere.

Everything else

There are around 250 blocks and items. The Player guide covers every one in English, Japanese and Chinese; JEI shows every recipe, and the advancement tab leads the way through the mod.

With other mods

  • Shared materials go by common tags (brass, zinc, flour, salt, rice and more), so another mod's work in our recipes. Power is Forge Energy, and our liquids move through any mod's pipes and tanks.
  • Tree felling, vein mining, the hammers' 3x3, the Magnet and the Building Wand stand down when a mod doing the same is installed; the list of those mods is in the config, for a pack to change.
  • Claims and spawn protection are respected. Works with Sodium and Iris.

Tell us what you think

Nookworks is in beta: played in singleplayer and on a dedicated server, and checked by automated in-game tests. What helps most: what you built with it, where you got stuck, and what you would want next. Every comment is read, and fixes come in the next update.

How this mod was made

Nookworks is made with AI (Claude, by Anthropic) under the author's direction: the author decides what goes in, plays it and judges it; the AI writes the code, this page and most of the textures, drawn by scripts kept with the source. The posters are the author's own art. Every picture here is a real in-game capture, not retouched: most with the Complementary Reimagined shader pack, the Dark Matter one without.

License

MIT. All of the mod's textures are its own; no vanilla images are included.
