About this project

What does Death Point Marker add?

Death Point Marker shows you the way back to your items. After you die, a HUD line appears with the compass bearing, distance and coordinates of your last death point.

It reads the same server-side "last death position" that the vanilla Recovery Compass uses, so it works with doImmediateRespawn, survives relogging, and never points at a death from another world or server.

Once you walk within 3 blocks of the death point, the line hides and stays hidden even if you wander off again, until your next death gives you a new one. This is remembered across game restarts. The line also hides while you are in a different dimension than the one you died in, and while another screen (inventory, chest, menus) is open. It stays visible while you type in chat.

If the line would run into the top-center area used by boss bars and by Hullspark Coordinate HUD, it moves to a lower row instead of overlapping.

Known limitation: if you die again on the exact same block as a death point you already recovered, the line does not appear, because the two deaths look identical.

  • No item or crafting required
  • Client-side only. Safe on any server
  • Requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API for Minecraft 1.21.11

Disclosure: this mod was developed with AI assistance (Claude) and reviewed by the author. It does not reuse code or assets from other mods. Client-side only; it does not collect or transmit any data.
