About this project
What does Player Quest Board add?
My friends and I kept running into the same problem on our server: someone would log on, not know what to do, and log off again. So I made a board where we can post jobs for each other.
Put a Quest Board on a wall, write up a quest, attach a reward, and pin it. Anyone on the server can take it from any board, since every board shows the same quests.
What you can ask for
- Build something (you check it and approve it)
- Deliver items to you
- Gather items
- Visit a spot
- Craft or mine something
- A custom task you sign off yourself
Each quest has its own instructions page, so you can say exactly where the build goes, how big it should be, what materials to use, whatever. It holds a few thousand words and you can expand it to full screen while writing.
Who can take it
- Team: anyone can join and the reward gets split
- Solo: first person to accept gets it to themselves
- Race: anyone can go for it, first to finish takes everything
Rewards
Put the items in when you post the quest. They're held until the quest is done, so nobody gets stiffed and nobody can dupe them. If a player is offline when their reward is paid out, it waits for them, and if their inventory is full it's handed over once they make room.
Crafting
8 planks around a Book and Quill. The planks you use decide what the board looks like, and every wood type works. Put a stick on top of a board to get a small 1-block version for tight spaces.
Other stuff
- Players' heads show on the quests they've taken
- The board's candle lights the area a little and works with shaders
- JEI shows the recipe (optional)
/questsopens the board from anywhere
Requires: Fabric API. Install it on both the server and every player's client.
Made for my own server. If something breaks, let me know in the comments.
