What does DAPhysiX - Physics add?
DAPhysiX — Bring Your Minecraft Creations to Life
DAPhysiX is a physics mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge, powered by the Bullet physics engine. It adds dynamic objects, drivable vehicles and articulated ragdolls that react to gravity and collide with the world.
Import your own OBJ models and PNG textures without writing Java code. An optional JSON configuration lets you adjust properties such as scale, mass, friction and bounce, or turn a model into a static decoration or a vehicle.
How custom models work
Server owners place their files inside a models folder at the server’s root:
models/models/— OBJ models and optional JSON configuration files.models/textures/— PNG textures.- MTL material files can sit alongside their OBJ models for multiple textures.
A PNG with the same name as an OBJ is assigned automatically. Use /daphysix models to list available models and /daphysix spawn <name> to spawn one.
Built for multiplayer
Install DAPhysiX on both the server and each player’s client. Custom models, textures and settings are downloaded automatically when players connect, so they do not need to install the model files manually.
The server controls the physics simulation, while clients render the objects and send vehicle controls. Downloaded assets use a temporary session cache separate from players’ local models.
After updating your models: restart the server, then reconnect players to receive the updated files.
Requirements and current scope
Requires Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47.2.0 and Java 17.
Model collisions use convex shapes, so hollow spaces and complex indentations are approximated. Vehicle wheels have physical suspension, but separate visual wheel animations are not currently included.
