About this project
What does Tinker's Newlife add?
A large‑scale content expansion mod for Tinkers’ Construct 3 (1.20.1).
It brings to the Tinkers’ world seven new weapons, ten new materials, over thirty new traits/modifiers, and a unique event system inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos. Every piece of content is deeply integrated into Tinkers’ part system, modifier system, and material rendering – you can assemble, enhance, and upgrade them just like vanilla Tinkers’ tools.
I. New Weapons
Yo‑Yo
Crafted at a Tool Station using two yo‑yo wheels, one spool, and a bowstring. Right‑click to launch a spinning yo‑yo forward, travelling up to 10 blocks. Upon hitting a mob, a block, or reaching its maximum range, the yo‑yo hovers for 3 seconds. During this hover and on its return flight, it deals continuous damage equal to 10% of the player’s total damage per 2 ticks to any entity it touches, while consuming tool durability normally (affected by Unbreaking, Reinforced, Indestructible, etc.). After launching, the yo‑yo disappears from the hand, leaving a string in the colour of the bowstring connecting the player to the yo‑yo. When it returns, if the main hand is empty, it goes back there; if occupied, it moves to the inventory; if the inventory is full, it drops on the spot. You can switch to another yo‑yo in your inventory and launch it while the first is still in flight – multiple yo‑yos can be active simultaneously without interfering. The flying yo‑yo is rendered as a 3D model, with the two wheels and central spool showing the material colours of their respective parts, rolling sideways toward the target like a tyre.Flying Sword
A sword forged for flying. Right‑click to launch the Flying Sword at an enemy – it automatically returns after hitting. You can toggle pursuit mode, making the sword auto‑target and continuously attack. When equipped in the feet curio slot, you gain the ability to fly on the sword. Press the bound key to switch between normal and pursuit modes.War Scythe
A combat‑modified giant scythe with higher attack damage and a larger attack range than its basic version. Features a unique Fever energy system: each attack builds Fever, and attack speed increases with Fever level. While holding a directional key and attacking, you can consume Fever to teleport. When Fever is full, hold forward + sneak + right‑click to unleash a five‑hit ultimate combo dealing massive damage.Dragon Staff
A staff crafted from a Dragon Soul Core and two tool rods. Sneak + right‑click to switch between Retrieval and Release modes. In Retrieval mode, right‑click a wild dragon to store it in the staff’s slot; in Release mode, right‑click a block to summon a stored dragon. Taming and releasing cost large amounts of XP. The number of slots increases with level. Tamed dragons become combat companions and grant attack bonuses.Modular Staff
A perfect fusion of melee and magic. Melee attacks deal bonus damage, and spell casting deals additional damage while boosting spell power. If Iron’s Spells ‘n Spellbooks is installed, it gains full spell‑casting capability.Silent Glove
A spatial singularity storage item worn in the hand curio slot. It provides 12 upgradeable storage slots that can hold various Tinkers’ weapons and tools. When empty‑handed, it automatically pulls a random weapon from the storage to attack, then returns it after the attack. Items placed via the glove’s UI are automatically collected when you pick up identical fixed items (ignoring durability differences). The glove also adds extra ring slots, allowing you to wear more accessories simultaneously.Durandal Sword
An eternal sword evolved from pure Durandal materials – it never wears out and possesses top‑tier base stats.
II. New Materials
The mod adds ten entirely new Tinkers’ materials, each with its own stat sheet, traits, and material rendering colour:
Dragon Bone, Dragon Firesteel, Dragon Froststeel, Dragon Thundersteel, Dread Steel, Durandal, Ghroth Remnants, Nicholas’s Gift, Hastur’s Malice, and Pale Ink.
These range from iron‑tier Nether ores to Netherite‑tier legendary alloys, covering a complete progression curve. They come with corresponding molten fluids, casts, and smelting recipes, and can be freely used to cast any Tinkers’ part.
III. New Traits / Modifiers
Over thirty brand‑new traits covering weapons, tools, and armour:
Offensive:
Black Flash – low chance to deal extremely high multiplier damage and enter an empowered state.
Harmony of Celestial Order – applies Slowness, Blindness, and Weakness on hit.
Dragon Blood Infusion – consumes three types of dragon blood to apply Fire, Frost, and Disarm.
Dread – projectiles ignore armour and apply Weakness, Blindness, and Wither.
Dragonfire – triggers an explosion and sets targets on fire.
Dragonfrost – freezes, slows, and creates frost on hit.
Dragonthunder – summons lightning and disarms the target.
Gale Force – creates a wind field that pulls in mobs, dealing continuous damage.
Fus‑Ro‑Dah – knocks targets back; higher levels increase knockback force.
Charm – after attacking, charms the target, preventing it from fighting back.
Passive / Growth:
Child of the Stars – final damage doubles per level.
Stellar Shelter – wearing this grants permanent max health increase per kill.
Temporal Gift – boosts XP gain by 500%.
Nyarlathotep’s Desire – adds one ability slot per level.
Greed – high chance of extra loot drops on kill.
Quantum Backpack – a personal dimensional pocket (up to level 5) for storing/retrieving items anytime.
Fluttering Butterflies – War Scythe exclusive, builds Fever and enhances it.
Defensive / Survival:
Dread Armour – provides Night Vision, Fire Resistance, Frost Immunity, and damage capping; actively triggers Dread Domain for wide‑area damage.
Dragonsteel Scale Armour (three types) – counter‑attacks with Fire, Frost, or Lightning plus Disarm.
Mind’s Eye – immunity to Medusa’s petrifying gaze.
Atheist – clears ghosts within 16 blocks.
Dragon Blood Reservoir – stores up to 25,000 mL of three dragon blood types.
Many more traits await discovery in‑game.
IV. Cthulhu Mythos Event System
Five ancient beings will watch over your journey:
Nicholas’s Gift – blessing of the Mother of Fertility.
The King in Yellow – praise and curse from the Great Old One.
Call of R’lyeh – deep‑sea whispers.
Yog‑Sothoth – Key to the Gate, amplifying XP.
Nyarlathotep – twisted desires granting ability slots.
They may descend at random, bestowing rich rewards or harsh penalties, adding unspeakable twists to your survival experience.
