About this project

What does Dragon Seekers: The Lost Ones add?

The Lost Ones

The Lost Ones is an addon for Saint's Dragons (Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge) that adds new creatures to the world. Each one has its own behavior, food chain, taming and riding mechanics, and a full set of GeckoLib animations. The first creature is the Akpatok, a huge semi-aquatic predator of the cold biomes.

Requires Saint's Dragons and GeckoLib.

How it changes your game

  • Cold biomes are no longer safe. Wild Akpatoks roam frozen shores and icy waters. They are diurnal and aggressive toward players, so getting close to one on foot is a real risk.
  • Polar bears matter now. Akpatoks hunt polar bears and fish when they get hungry, so you can watch a predator hunt in the wild. Polar bears also drop bear meat, a new food.
  • You can tame a giant. Raise a baby Akpatok, ride it across land and water, and breed it.

Akpatok: what you can experience

In the wild

  • Wild Akpatoks walk, run and swim, and hunt fish (cod, salmon) and polar bears once their hunger drops.
  • They use three attacks: a bite, a paw sweep, and a powerful head attack with knockback. In the water they switch to a smaller bite. They alternate attacks instead of repeating the same one.
  • They have a hunger system and can starve if they find no food.
  • They sleep at night when no player is nearby, and wild adults can breed and lay eggs on their own.

Taming

  • Only babies can be tamed, by feeding them bear meat.
  • Once tamed, use Shift + right-click on the empty hand to make your Akpatok sit.
  • Feed a tamed adult meat or fish to put it in love mode and breed it.
  • Breeding produces an Akpatok egg block, which works much like a sniffer egg.

Riding

  • Craft a saddle and mount your tamed Akpatok (only the owner can ride it).
  • Ride on land or swim through water, with faster speeds when sprinting.
  • Use ride abilities: bite (attack key), paw sweep (primary key), a chargeable head attack (hold the tertiary key to charge the knockback), and a roar flex.

Care and bond

  • Brush your Akpatok to keep it happy and collect Akpatok fur, and use a scale plucker for Akpatok scales.
  • A happiness system reacts to how you treat it.
  • Read about it in the Codex entry from Saint's Dragons.

New items and progression

  • Raw bear meat: dropped by polar bears. Eating it raw gives Nausea, Hunger and Poison, so cook it first.
  • Cooked bear meat: a safe, filling food, and the item used to tame baby Akpatoks.
  • Akpatok scale and fur: collected by grooming a tamed Akpatok.
  • Advancements: eat raw bear meat, and spot a wild Akpatok.

Planned for future updates

More creatures, more abilities for the Akpatok, and new interactions between them, including a territorial fight with a second predator.
