About this project

What does Assorted Damage Numbers add?

Assorted Damage Numbers

When something gets hurt a number pops off it showing how much health it lost, along with what did it. Healing shows up too. The numbers bounce once or twice and fade away.

Hitting a pillager with a diamond sword, the damage numbers bouncing off it

How it works

  • The number is how much health the creature actually lost, after armor.
  • A hit from a player names the weapon they were holding. A hit from a creature names the creature, and a projectile names itself, like Arrow.
  • Other damage says where it came from, like Fire, Fall, Drowning, Explosion, Magic, Freezing or Lightning.
  • Each kind has its own color. Hits are red, fire is orange, magic is purple, freezing is light blue, lightning is yellow, drowning is blue and healing is green.
  • Damage from other mods that doesn't fit one of those gets a color and name of its own, the same every time.
  • Players, animals and monsters all get numbers. Your own numbers only show in third person.
  • Whole numbers stay whole and anything in between shows one decimal, like 2.5.
  • It only needs to be installed in your own game, so it works on any server.

Config

These are in the assorteddamagenumbers-client config file. They only change your own game, so everyone can set their own.

  • damageNumbers.showSource shows what did the damage beside the number. On by default.
  • damageNumbers.showHealing shows healing as well as damage. On by default.
  • damageNumbers.range is how far away numbers still show. 24 blocks by default.
  • damageNumbers.lifetime is how long a number stays in ticks. 40 by default, which is 2 seconds.

Requirements

Damage Numbers also comes in Assorted Util with the other five Util mods, if you'd rather have them all in one download.
