About this project

What does The Long Travail add?

The Long Travail

A Minecraft Forge adventure mod by Phoebe_Real.

Equip The Long Travail, a bound Travel Diary curio, and embark on six journeys shaped by malice. Explore randomly selected biomes and structures, uncover each chapter's conditions, and turn its malice into a lasting witness.

Features

  • Six journeys: Each theme has its own malice, witness, and randomized exploration goals.
  • A readable Travel Diary: Follow your progress and use six deciphering stones to reveal the conditions for reversing each malice.
  • Tools for the road: Use Homecoming to remove the diary without losing progress, or follow a Wayguide toward unfinished exploration goals.
  • Twelve themed accessories: Combine flowers, bond with companions, summon rain, glide through the skies, light your surroundings, return from death, enter dreams, and stop time in a local area.
  • Customizable gameplay: Adjust effects, exploration goals, accessory abilities, and loot through configuration files.
  • English and Chinese localization, with optional JEI recipe and interaction displays.

Requirements

  • Minecraft 1.20.1
  • Forge 47.4.20 or newer within the 47.x line
  • Java 17
  • Curios 5.14.1 or a newer compatible version

Install Forge and Curios, then place the mod JAR in your mods folder. For multiplayer, install the same version of The Long Travail on both the client and server.

By default, players receive the diary when first entering a world. This can be disabled in the configuration.

Configuration and Compatibility

Configuration files are generated in config/the_long_travail/. Settings are grouped by theme, with loot settings in general.toml and local display preferences in client.toml.

Curios is required. Optional integrations include JEI, Caelus, Embeddium, Sounds, FTB Teams, Gravestone, Modern UI, and Enigmatic Legacy. See the repository documentation for supported versions and details.
