About this project

What does Echo of Nothingness add?

Echo of Nothingness is a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge survival expansion built around a "void infection." It is not just about monsters invading—it is about a world slowly sickening, and about life being assimilated and evolving beyond recognition. You cannot purge the infection. You can only try to live with it—or at least, to live a little longer.

After you open the book that should never have been opened, the void's gaze falls upon this world. The land begins to bloom with eerie violet-green patterns; darkness and light both become double-edged swords—void creatures grow stronger in the dark and weaken under the light. And every creature slain by them does not truly die: it is assimilated, reshaped, and pushed further along the ladder of evolution.

Features:

  • World infection system — as the world's infection phase rises, void creatures grow more dangerous and the corruption spreads further, consuming the land piece by piece.
  • Assimilation & evolution — creatures killed by the void are reborn in void forms and evolve ever further: from Void Mites, Void Ants, and Void Horseflies, to Jiran Skeletons and the EnderHerald, all the way to the Jiran Abomination and the Giant Jiran Creeper.
  • A unique infected ecology — Jiran Grass, Jiran Dirt, Jiran Stone, Jiran Veins, Jiran Spikes… the world itself is sickening.
  • A complete combat ruleset — phase dodge, light-based weakening, dark roar, dark aura, dynamic damage caps, and true damage: enemies follow a full set of offensive and defensive rules.
  • Diverse void creations — from mites, ants, and horseflies, to constructs like the Cytokinesis Stalk and Cystoids, the Solitude Winter—and lightning-charged variants wrapped in blue current.
  • Items and food — Weird Books, the Tome of Nihility, the Holy Hand Grenade, Jiran Viscera, Severed Tentacles, Eerie Stew, and more.
  • Highly configurable — nearly every value can be tuned in the config files to customize difficulty and pacing.

Backstory*

0 · Before Nothing Before all concepts converged, before anything was given a name, before the first story was ever written—It slept. It is the blankness of all that has not yet begun. A void so pure that even "nothingness" cannot find footing within it. Every word we use to describe It is an ant trying to measure a tower.

1 · The Boiling Illusion "Sleep" is only an illusion on the macro scale. Its true nature is a storm that never stops boiling: definitions are torn apart the instant they are born, causality shatters the moment it takes shape, and existence and nothingness devour each other—redefining one another in the very act of consumption. Its "calm" is a trick of the observer's senses, hiding a destructive tension vast enough to rewrite the foundations of reality.

2 · A Universe in a Blink When the storm happens to pause for a single instant, concepts gather briefly—and countless universes are born, only to be ground back into chaos the next moment. The eons that feel eternal to us are less than a blink to It.

3 · The Fissure The deaths of the Wither and the Ender Dragon tore reality open with their aftershocks. A strange book slipped through the fissure—into your hands. The instant you opened it, the echo of that immense power nearly knocked you unconscious. And somewhere deeper than concepts, Its "sleep" paused for a single breath.

4 · The Glance It cast a careless glance at this world. Not a stare. Not a will. Not even curiosity. Just a glance. Then It returned to Its eternal chaos. And this world could no longer bear its own weight.

Rules begin to break. The land stains with colors that do not belong. The fallen are assimilated into extensions of It, climbing slowly up the ladder of evolution: mites, ants, horseflies, empty shells, heralds, abominations, breakers… And you are the only one who hears the echo.
