About this project
What does Oblivion: Space Exploration add?
Oblivion: Space Exploration
Build your ship. Power your systems. Explore alien worlds.
Beta 4 features described below. Check Files for approved downloads; processing and moderation can delay availability.
Oblivion brings powered block-built ships, planetary exploration, creatures, stations, and survival technology to Minecraft Forge 1.20.1. Build or buy ships, fit thrusters and wiring, then carry players and mobs through space and between planets.
Explore beyond home
Visit Hoth, Kamino, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, Geonosis, and zombie planet dimensions. Find alien terrain, creatures, structures, resources, asteroid fields, shipwrecks, stations, and hostile encounters. Trade equipment, earn credits, and prepare for harsher environments.
Ships with life aboard
Fly full block structures with powered thrusters, shields, laser cannons, generators, reactors, batteries, and oxygen systems. Commission persistent hulls, switch Manual/Cruise/Standby modes with Pilot Remote, and use supported blocks and equipment aboard moving ships. Finite cabin oxygen makes sealed hulls and powered life support important. Keep pressure suit ready.
Discover Resonance
Explore for six Resonance abilities: Push, Pull, Leap, Barrier, Grasp, and Singularity. Selection wheel, attunement screen, and cooldown feedback track progression. Rare Resonance Blade supports 16 dye colors and frontal blocking against supported attacks.
Installation
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.4.10
- Java 17
- Required: GeckoLib Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1, 4.7.1.3; metadata permits compatible 4.x versions from 4.7.1.3
Place Oblivion and GeckoLib JARs in client/server mods folders. Use matching Oblivion builds everywhere. Back up worlds before updating. Ship networking differs between releases.
Start with Field Manual and /oblivion guide. Detect hull through Ship Console, complete Preflight, and confirm commissioning. Right-click Pilot Remote to cycle modes; sneak-use opens Flight Controls. Cruise captures existing motion. Standby preserves momentum; brake before boarding or landing.
Purchased ships belong to buyers. Ordinary players need applicable ownership/crew authorization; permission-level-2 operators can override ownership checks.
Beta status
Active beta: bugs, unfinished systems, balance changes, and loading/save stalls remain possible. Player physical docking, linked cargo automation, and docked electricity are unavailable. Ship-relative player bed respawn, sculk/vibrations, custom entity controllers, complex mechanisms, and large-fleet operation retain limits. Surface Drill remains stationary. Full human survival/camera acceptance remains outstanding. Some cold QuickPlay joins timed out in local tests; root cause and full reconnect acceptance remain unresolved.

Report bugs with Minecraft/Forge/GeckoLib/Oblivion versions, reproduction steps, and relevant logs or crash reports. Comments, suggestions, and playtesting help guide development. Further planets, creatures, structures, machines, ships, and features remain development plans; availability depends on published version.
AI disclosure
AI tools were used extensively during development of Oblivion, including for programming assistance, textures, models, and other assets. This is a passion project, and AI has been used as a development tool to help make the scope of the mod possible. I still review, test, edit, come up with ideas, and integrate the content used in the final mod. If the use of AI isn’t something you’re comfortable with then that is completely understandable, and this mod may simply not be for you.
