About this project
What does Chaos Mod: Chaotic Technology add?

Chaos Mod
Chaos Mod is a large-scale technology and progression mod centered around energy, advanced machinery, dimensional exploration, and the manipulation of reality itself.
The mod takes inspiration from the long and demanding progression of Avaritia and from technology-focused mods such as Mekanism. The goal, however, is not simply to make crafting recipes expensive. Chaos Mod focuses on creating a technological journey where each new tier introduces more powerful machines, new resources, new environments, and new challenges.
Your journey begins with unstable materials and relatively simple technology, but eventually develops into machinery capable of manipulating dimensional energy, opening gateways to alternate realities, controlling massive amounts of power, and reaching the final Chaos tier.
Progression
Chaos Mod is built around nine main technology tiers:
Unstable, Stable, Void, Stellar, Duality, Darklight, Nova, Zenith and Chaos
Each tier represents a significant technological step and unlocks access to new materials, machines, resources, and mechanics.
Progression is intentionally demanding. Inspired by the endgame philosophy of Avaritia, reaching the highest tiers is meant to be a long-term objective rather than something accomplished after only a few hours.
At the same time, progression is not intended to consist only of increasingly expensive crafting recipes. New tiers expand what the player can actually do.
Advanced Technology
Inspired by large technology mods such as Mekanism, Chaos Mod features an expanding technological ecosystem rather than a collection of isolated machines.
Players can build and integrate systems involving:
- Resource extraction and processing
- Energy generation and storage
- Energy and item transportation
- Tiered Extractors and Refiners
- Advanced machine control
- Redstone-controlled automation
- High-tier processing systems
- Particle acceleration
- Dimensional technology
- Reality manipulation
As you advance through the tiers, machines become increasingly powerful — but their infrastructure and resource requirements grow alongside them.
Rift Realities
One of the central mechanics of Chaos Mod is the ability to discover and explore alternate realities.
These realities are not simply additional dimensions. They can have different environmental properties, biomes, resources, creatures, celestial configurations, gravity, and stability.
Reality technology allows players to scan for these worlds and eventually construct gateways capable of reaching them.
Higher-tier realities contain increasingly valuable resources, but reaching and exploiting them also becomes progressively more dangerous.
Reality Stability
Reality itself is a resource that must be respected.
Dimensional technology and certain advanced systems can affect the stability of a reality. Excessive exploitation may destabilize the environment and produce increasingly severe consequences.
Players therefore need to balance resource extraction with dimensional stability, especially when operating high-tier technology.
Specialized technology can reduce or control these effects, allowing larger and more advanced infrastructure to operate safely.
Reality Rifts
The boundaries between realities are not always stable.
Reality Rifts can create localized dimensional anomalies where blocks, resources, environments, and creatures from other realities begin leaking into the Overworld.
These areas provide opportunities to obtain unusual resources, but they can also become dangerous dimensional events.
As progression advances, players will encounter increasingly powerful forms of dimensional instability.
From Unstable Matter to Chaos
Chaos Mod is designed around a simple idea:
Technology should continuously increase the scale of what the player is capable of doing.
Early progression revolves around basic resources and machinery.
Later progression involves massive energy systems, advanced processing chains, alternate realities, dimensional instability, and technology capable of manipulating the fundamental structure of reality.
The final Chaos Tier represents the culmination of this progression and is intended to be a true endgame objective.
