About this project
What does Survival Mode Extended add?
Survival Mode Extended removes frustrating dead ends and bottlenecks while introducing more meaningful choices and gameplay options at every stage of the game — creating a deeper, richer and more immersive experience from the first night to the Dragon fight. The mod is built around two principles: 1. Different biomes shouldn’t just look different — they should play different.
Different environments should present different challenges, offer different rewards, and encourage different approaches to survival. 2. Minecraft should be fun and challenging for every type of player, in every game mode.
Whether you enjoy magic, engineering, exploration or ecology, there should be multiple ways to play, and multiple ways to succeed.
Improved World Generation, Seasons & Temperature * **A more varied and dynamic world with seasonal change, where different environments present distinct challenges and opportunities.
Features include: New Marsh, Frozen Marsh and Ice Cave biomes; taller mountains, deeper seas and higher trees for easier passage on horseback; multi-tier rivers with navigable rapids; realistic four-season visual and weather variation; biome-based weather phenomena, including auroras and sandstorms; temperature effects, including heatstroke and frostbite; but with multiple ways to adapt to different climates.** *
A Deeper and More Intuitive Food, Rest & Health System * **Food and rest become more meaningful, particularly in the early game, with different foods and activities serving distinct purposes beyond simply filling the hunger bar.
Features include: A reworked food system where every food has specific uses for either hunger restoration, health regeneration, energy boost, heating, or cooling; a new energy monitoring system; new rest mechanics using the cushion or bed to restore health and energy directly.** *
Learn the Game In-Game * **More information is made available within the game, reducing the need for the F3 menu, wikis, and mapping sites that stall progress and break immersion.
Features include: Earlier access to recipes to help identify useful resources; large-scale Biome Atlases available from Cartographers; the ability to map areas manually using a spyglass; and new cartography devices including the Rangefinder Compass and Bubble Gauge.** *
New Mobs, Wildlife & Pets * **A richer ecosystem where every new mob has a purpose, adding useful resources, abilities or gameplay opportunities rather than simply increasing the mob count.
Features include: creeper-hunting Grizzly Bears, shearable Caribou, rideable Elephants, and tameable Owls, along with valuable new drops from Ghostfish, Geese and Vultures; improved Pet AI, including better danger avoidance; Goat Horn based summoning for all pets and tamed animals; and Snow Golems that throw damaging iceballs.** *
A More Varied and Balanced XP & Enchanting System * **A broader progression system that rewards players for engaging with the world positively – but still supports traditional mob grinders.
Features include: Substantial XP rewards for adopting, upgrading and maintaining villages. XP level rewards for completing each of four thematic side-quests, initiated by the Archaeologist, Priest, Mariner and Ranger; reduced prior-work enchantment costs through the Grounded Anvil; and the ability to enchant books yourself using the Ancient Codex. Also less chance of losing your expensively enchanted items with the Recall and Overstacking enchantments. 30 new advancements.** *
More Fun & Varied Combat * **Expanded equipment, ammunition and enemy behaviours provide more variety and opportunities for combat specialisation.
Features include: powerful specialist shield variants (powerblock, instinctive, indestructible, fire-protection, explosion-resistant, and magic guard) based around wood type; a new Fletching Table for crafting feather-based arrow types with unique properties (heat-seeker, underwater, sniper, and double-tap); easier potion tipping, even including Suspicious Stews; Cleaving and Reach melee weapon enchantments; three new biome-based Pillager variants — Outlaws on horses, Pirates in boats and Trappers with wolves; Creepers that can sense players through walls, and an increasingly aggressive Ender Dragon.*
Getting around Has Never Been More Fun * **Expanded transportation options make travel a more substantial part of the Survival experience, from early exploration to late-game fast travel.
Features include: A Houseboat with onboard sleeping functionality, that can even be suspended beneath a Happy Ghast as a balloon basket; enchanted saddles for everything from horses to striders, camels to nautilus, that can now receive frostwalker, depth strider, feather falling and agility enchantments; and virtually indestructible elephants with howdahs.*
Expanded End-Game Magic & Progression * **A deeper end-game progression system adds new magical equipment, crafting stations and specialised abilities beyond the traditional Dragon fight.
Features include: 8 new conduit types — Life, Death, Luck, Peace, Shield, Breath, Eye and End — each with a paired amulet that lets you take some of your powers with you; 9 new potions — Phasing, Phase-Blocking, Warmth, Freezing, Grip, Slippery, Spectral, Borrowing and Explosive; along with Beacon-based systems for weather control.** *
More options for Engineering & Automation * **New mechanical systems and helpful golems provide more ways to automate tasks and reduce the grind.
Features include: Copper Golems that light up dark corners; Granite Golems that punch tunnels; Endermen that mimic player construction; Multiple new engaging redstone systems including redstone-controlled custom portals between any two locations; calendars and thermometers as control devices; a redstone timer based on the Clock, and a post-end, redstone-controlled resource replicator to make big builds more manageable.** Compatabilities: Lithium, FerriteCore, InstantlyFaster, EntityCulling, all work fine and are recommended. ** known incompatability with Sodium, working on a fix**
