About this project
What does Fish On! add?
Fish On! — Species & Sport Fishing
Find it. Fool it. Land it.
Fish on turns Minecraft fishing into an active sport. Explore freshwater lakes, rivers and the open ocean in search of fish already swimming in the world. Choose your bait, make your cast, set the hook and manage line tension as you bring your catch to shore.
From a quiet afternoon catching bluegill to a fight with a trophy marlin, there’s always another reason to make one more cast.
19 Species to Discover
Pursue bass, pike, muskie, walleye, catfish, sturgeon and more—or head offshore for snapper, tuna, marlin and other ocean species.
Fish on features 17 custom species alongside Minecraft’s salmon and cod, with individual weights and lengths, different tackle preferences and distinct fighting behavior. Discover species and track your personal bests in the Journal.
Choose Your Tackle
Start with live bait on a vanilla fishing rod, then expand your gear with Sportsman, Saltwater and Fly Rods.
- Gather worms and grubs or catch minnows with a net.
- Retrieve artificial lures and experiment with your presentation.
- Work diving crankbaits or let spinnerbaits sink during a pause.
- Fish live bait along the bottom or practice your fly cast.
- Keep your equipment organized in tackle boxes.
An unbaited vanilla rod still uses vanilla fishing.
Keep, Release or Cook
Every landed fish has a story. Release your catch, transport it alive in a livewell, or keep it to show off.
Display fish in item frames, on crafted mounts or hanging from a stringer. Prefer dinner? Prepare kept catches on a cutting board and cook the fillets.
The journal includes a short getting-started guide and illustrated crafting recipes, so help is always close at hand.
Compete for the Trophy
Host fishing tournaments with friends using a Tournament Board. Operators choose the eligible species, event duration and best-fish bag limit. Add computer-controlled anglers for extra competition.
Both kept and released catches can score, and each fish counts only once per event.
Winners receive a gold jumping-fish trophy on a wooden base, complete with a winner’s plaque and readable records of the tournament, final score and winning catches.
Getting Started
Attach bait by right-clicking it onto a rod in your inventory. Find fish, cast and watch for a bite. Snap your view upward to set the hook, hold Use to reel, and ease off when tension climbs. Bring the fish close, then right-click it to land your catch.
